News:
Implemented custom hitscanning mechanics for laser turrets (real lasers now!).

Description:

This mod currently adds two new turret weapons for large ships that are completely driven by power and have their own unique mechanics! Their purpose is to be an alternative to vanilla weapons in terms of stregth, while not outclassing them. All turrets can be upgraded with power efficiency upgrades right now, lowering their required input, and several types of upgrades will follow.

Beam Weapons:

Beam weapons need a constant supply of power as long as they are firing and will fire as long as their current heat is below their maximum heat capacity. Then they will stop firing, until they have cooled down entirely.

Small Laser Turret (large ship):

Size: 1l x 1w x 2h
Upgrade Slots: 3
Required Power: 8MW
Range: 800m
Targeting Range: 800m

The Small Laser Turret is your standard beam weapon. Having a high "projectile" speed and considerable burst, they are ideal to reliably inflict damage to fast moving targets, while still packing a punch in the short run. They have limited heat capacity though, so they have to cool down quite quickly.

Pulse Weapons:

In the future, pulse weapons will not require a minimum amount of power, but instead shoot as soon as their internal capacitor is full (right now they also require a minimum power, just like the beam weapons, but the rest is working). Then, they create their projectile and release it onto their target.

Small Plasma Turret (large ship):

Size: 1l x 1w x 2h
Upgrade Slots: 3
Required Power: 8MW
Range: 800m
Targeting Range: 800m

The Small Plasma Turret is a good alround weapon. It features higher projectile speed then missiles, while also inflicting explosion damage on hit. They also have a good firerate compared to missile launchers. Their downside is their total damage output though, as they are not as specialized in any area as the alternatives. If you don't know what type of enemy you will face, equip these ones.


Issues:

The mechanics don't really work in creative, there they will shoot with full speed (which might be OP) and without certain ModAPI changes, there won't be anything I can do about it.

For modders:

You are allowed, and encouraged by me, to use the script part of the mod to incorporate it into your own weapon mods if you like! I made it as simple as possible, you only have to:

1. Attach the respective gamelogic class (Pulse or Beam weapon) to your weapon
2. Make a new entry for it in the EnergyWeaponsManager with the desired stats and the ammo magazine name
3. Add it in the "getBeamWeaponInfo()" or "getPulseWeaponInfo()" respectively.

You can see an example of it within the mod itself, my turrets are using the exact same system.

The problem you describe is due to Keen breaking in game turret ai and not the mods error. Keen says tbey are fixing it..... in version 1.201.000 in who knows how many Months......

@Cython Hi Cython, This mod is now invalid. If you manually control it, you can fire the weapon. But the mod starts buggin as AI cannot automatically search for enemies and fire at them. It may be the vanilla turrets has been changed in the latest update. Could you fix it ?

broken, only plasma turret shoot but many times do no damage.
