All Choices and Consequences | Life is Strange: Double Exposure
By XEALEEN
Life is Strange series has always been famous for its complex and intricate system of choices, the consequences of which last throughout the entire game. You never know how and when you will be reminded about your choice. This works especially well during the first playthrough, when you are still getting to know the story, its main and secondary characters. What will happen if you help this or that person? How will your friends react to this? And are they really that much of a friend to you?

Well, now you can always find out the consequences of your choices and what interesting endings they will lead you to during your playthrough.

Introduction
In total, the game offers about 14 different choices. Unfortunately, only some of them have a significant impact on the story and characters. Some of these choices have only a "cosmetic" effect and do not affect the story progression globally.

However, if it is important for you to complete the story in a certain way, as well as get some achievements, then I recommend that you make your choice based on my recommendations.

It is also important to note that this guide only covers the consequences of key choices when you have 2 options. There are no consequences in the dialogue branches in the guide, but they are not key, despite the "this action will have consequences" sign.

This guide is a separate independent part of my other guide dedicated to achievements. They are indirectly related to each other, so be sure to check it out if you haven't already.

This guide contains SUBSTANTIAL spoilers for the game story. If you have not yet completed the game at least once, then leave this guide, it may ruin your impression of your first playthrough.

Come back when you accept the consequences of your own choices or use the guide at your own risk. You have been warned, I do not accept any claims about this.

📸 № 1 | Scene #2: Grew Apart or She Died?
We Grew Apart
She Died
By saying this you’re implying that the two of you broke up. When you check your phone, you’ll find old text messages from Chloe and even recent Crosstalk posts from her. You can also read Max’s diary entries to piece together what happened between them.

In Max’s bedroom, she keeps a picture of herself and Chloe together, and you have the option to hang photos sent by Joyce or ones that reflect memories of Arcadia Bay.

Also this triggers Bae playhrough. Finish the game with Bae and Bay options to unlock Bay or Bae achievement
Telling that Chloe is dead will shock Safi. You will receive texts and Crosstalk posts from Joyce (Chloe’s mom) and Victoria. Max has two Polaroids of Chloe at home, which she can choose to display on her wall.

Also this triggers Bay playhrough. Finish the game with Bae and Bay options to unlock Bay or Bae achievement

📸 № 2 | Scene #2: Date or Friend?
A Date Thing
A Friend Thing
This will initiate a romantic relationship with Amanda. However after a certain tragedy that’s about to unfold, Amanda decides to stay by your side as a friend, recognizing that’s what you need at the moment.
While this doesn’t necessarily rule out the possibility of a romance with Amanda later on, she won’t make any further advances on Max in Chapters 1 and 2.

P.S. Your choice will not affect the possibility of romancing Amanda in the future. This choice essentially only determines Amanda's interest in you during the first two Chapters and minor dialogues.
📸 № 3 | Scene #5: Answer or Call Bluff?
Answer Her Question
Call Her Bluff
She will ask if Safi had pissed someone off, and you can respond by naming Gwen, Vinh, or Safi’s mother. No matter how you answer it feels like Loretta will find a way to twist your words against you.
Calling Loretta bluffer and refusing to answer her questions leads to her attempt to snitch on you. While Gwen isn’t thrilled about a student acting like this, she’s even less pleased that you were eavesdropping on her. She’ll tell ream you out before slamming her office door in your face.

P.S. This choice does not affect long-term relationships with Loretta and Gwen. Both characters will continue to communicate calmly with Max throughout the story.
📸 № 4 | Scene #2: Send Photo or Delete it?
Send Photo to Safi
Delete It
Lucas will be furious and will remember that you didn’t support him in his request in future Chapters.
Max will delete the photo. During Chapters 1 and 2, she doesn’t inform Safi about the restraining order, and Lucas appreciates this.

P.S. At the beginning of Chapter 4, you will discuss your actions with Safi. It will be mentioned why Max did what she did, but ultimately it won't have a significant impact on the story.
📸 № 5 | Scene #3: Save USB or Let It Burn?
Save the Footage
Stand with Gwen
Gwen will feel betrayed and will storm out of the overlook. However, she will still let you have the flash drive, which Max might be able to use to help her case.
Your relationship with her will stay on good terms, but that doesn’t mean she’ll be more willing to open up if you ask her about Safi’s book.

P.S. Regardless of any consequences, the best option here is to save the USB Flash Drive from the fire. Firstly, even if Gwen is disappointed, in future Chapters you will have the opportunity to return it to her, she will be grateful for your action.

Secondly, this flash drive is one of the clues needed for the Clue Me In achievement. If you are looking for a way to unlock all the achievements, then in this case, the absence of this flash drive ruin your chance to get the achievement.

📸 № 6 | Scene #4: Help Detective or Refuse?
Agree
Refuse
Even if you’re not genuinely planning to cooperate, Moses overhears your conversation from the hall and likely thinks you’re being sincere. When you bring this up later at Max’s home in the dark room, he doesn’t seem entirely convinced by your act.

Mandatory choise for Be Great, Do Crime! achievement.
Alderman won’t be very pleased, but you’ll be free to walk away for now. He will remember this incident. But this decision earns you a bit of trust from Moses since he knows you won’t betray him.

P.S. In this case, it is important to understand that despite the apparent threat, the detective's role in the game is absolutely insignificant, so there is no point in helping the investigation of the murder.

If you are an achievement hunter, then you will need to agree to help the detective, and in Scene #5, admit to Moses that you did not intend to cooperate with the investigation in any way to unlock Be Great, Do Crime! achievement..

📸 № 7 | Scene #2: Save Detective Alderman or Not?
Save Yourself
Help Alderman
Max breaks free from his hold. Since he can’t escape the rift, he transforms into a blue orb.
There are no consequences for either Max or Moses.
By choosing help to Alderman, Moses steps in to protect you. In the end, Alderman still turns into a blue orb, and Moses is left with a strip of white hair on his head from the explosion.

P.S. At this point, Detective Alderman dies and is no longer seen in the game. Remembering what I said earlier, in this case, this choice is a trap, so the only thing this choice will affect is that Moses will have a thin strip of gray hair on his temple as a reminder of your choice.
📸 № 8 | Scene #3: Expose Yasmin or Not?
Call Her Out
Go Along With It
Throughout the game, Yasmine has treated you with great warmth and respect. Your action will offend her. She accuses you of being ungrateful for all the opportunities she’s given you. Later in the chapter, she ends up telling Safi about your snooping.
Conversation wraps up on a friendly note, but you’ll get less info about Maya Oakada.
Yasmin denies Safi was close to Maya and quickly walks away. But in the end, she still tells Safi about your snooping so that it leads to quarrel.

P.S. Choose what seems logical and natural to you, ultimately this choice does not significantly change the events of the game, Yasmine's general attitude towards you will not change, the consequences of your choice will not affect the dialogues, and Safi will not talk to you in any case, because she will find out that you spied on her and discussed her behind her back with other people, instead of asking directly.
📸 № 9 | Scene #4: Kiss Amanda or Not?
Kiss Amanda
Pull Away

P.S. It doesn't matter whether you won Amanda's favor in the previous parts, or what choices you made about her. You will still have the opportunity to kiss her if you want to. After the "Revenger Horse" concert experience, you will seat on a sofa. When prompted, choose the dialogue option: Circle That would be hot to unlock kissing.

Whether you kiss her depends on getting certain achievements, so see which ones you need to complete the game 100%.

Kissing Amanda unlocks A Nice Girl Who Runs a Bar achievement, but if you kiss Vinh too, then you will get It’s Complicated achievement instead.

Rejecting her kiss with Vinh kiss together leads you to Romantically Disentangled achievement.

📸 № 10 | Scene #4: Kiss Vinh or Not?
Kiss Vinh
Pass
Maxine may be pretty drunk, but there's definitely something about this guy. So you kiss and he sits at the bar with a smile.

Kissing Vinh is required for Only Eyes for the Bad Boy, It’s Complicated and Frame Fatale achievements

P.S. Likewise with Amanda, it doesn't matter whether you showed Vinh signs of attention in the previous Chapters. In order to gain access to this choice, you just need to approach and start a conversation. It is necessary for achievement hunters, as it opens several achievements to unlock.

Kissing Vinh unlocks Only Eyes for the Bad Boy achievement, but if you kiss Amanda too, then you will get It’s Complicated achievement instead. After kiss you can make his Snapshot which is required for Frame Fatale achievement.

Passing his kiss with Amanda kiss together leads you to Romantically Disentangled achievement.

📸 № 11 | Scene #1: Could You Hurt Safi?
No
Yes
Safi gives Max a trusting look and says she believes you, then gets up to start planning how to take down Lucas Colmenero.
Safi just ask you to make sure you don’t have to. This answer has no impact on your plan to take down Lucas Colmenero.

P.S. Enough to say here anyway cause this choise will not affect in any interactions you’ll have in the following scenes.
📸 № 12 | Scene #2: Go as Safi or as Vinh
Go as Yourself
Go as Vinh
The encounter will be successful. Lucas will be exposed for stealing Maya Oakada’s writing and publishing it as his own. Safi grow confidence in herself, but also help Vinh stay out of harm’s way. After exposing him, Lucas asks Safi to have a word with him.
Safi as Vinh successfully exposes Lucas Colmenero for stealing Maya Oakada’s work too.
This also impacts Safi’s perception of herself and her powers. After the showdown, Lucas still asks Safi to have a word with him, lol.

P.S. This choice will definitely affect the next cutscene in the game, but as far as I can tell, nothing more. Here I can't even say for sure whether this will have consequences for Vinh. The story will still continue to move in the same direction, except that some individual dialogue lines may differ.
📸 № 13 | Scene #4: Rush or Talk?
Rush Safi
Talk Her Down
Rushing somehow triggering the gun to fire and shooting Yasmin in the shoulder. Safi is visibly upset at you, accusing you of wanting to be the hero again. In the end, Max grabs the photo of herself aiming a gun at Safi and travels back in time.
Safi complains that her whole life consists of actions that were not hers but her mother's and grabbing this gun is the only real choice she’s ever had and then will shoot her mother.

P.S. Once again, it can be said that this choice does not affect the course of the game's plot. And although Yasmin will get a bullet from Safi in any case, as a mother she will ask Max to help her daughter until the very end. Yasmin will not die, but will undergo treatment for a long time, and she will also be forced to leave her position as the director of the university.
📸 № 14 | Scene #4: Support or Refuse Safi?
Refuse
Agree
If you refuse to support Safi, she becomes visibly upset. Then, with a devious smile, she shapeshifts into Max and walks out of the observatory.

She won’t show up at the Snapping Turtle a few days later.
If you tell Safi you’ll support her, she hugs Max, grateful for the support. However, she still chooses to leave, saying, “there’s nothing for me here.” Then, she walks out of the observatory as herself.

She won’t show up at the Snapping Turtle a few days later. Moses, though not angry, comments that by supporting her, you essentially gave her your seal of approval after everything she did.

P.S. Certainly this choice leaves room for future game (if there will be one), but we cannot know that. In fact, these choices differ only in the mood with which you parted with Safi - friends or foes.

Great guide, I'm almost done with my first play through. I got spoiled already before this guide so I went ahead and read it anyways. Can't wait for my second play through for the achievements. Thanks! :nagisaclannad:
