[OLD] HDF F-700C Impaler

Where the fangs fly, the skies are wide.

The latest iteration on the HWT F-700, the Impaler C strikes quickly, fiercely, and precisely in the defense of Helian airspace. With easily a dozen control surfaces, an opening canopy, cockpit, afterburner, and more, it ensures that it brings a complete package to the table.

Standard models boast:
- 20mm MG, for tearing into targets with explosive ferocity.
- 20mm Gyrojet Smartgun, for better dogfight flexibility.
- Four Air-to-Air missiles, for excellent hard kill capability.
- Two High-Velocity Air-to-Air missiles, for long range and high-speed hard kill.
- Onboard repair systems, increasing durability and lifespan of the craft even while airborne.

Successor to the F-700B, known better as the Impaler MK3, the 700C boasts an extensive streamline and overhaul of the airframe, and is almost a completely new aircraft in it's own right. Given a much-needed redesign by a design team with more practical aerodynamics experience, the Impaler MK4 most notably boasts a wider wingspan and a new tail design in addition to a more obvious shift from what was effectively a winged, finned spear to a coherent airframe.

Implementing a number of effective traditional design traits, such as the sawtooth tail, recessed engine, or radar-reflective coating on the canopy, the MK4 offers a substantial decrease in radar cross-section as well as an increase in range, power, efficiency, and capacity. More space to be taken by fuel, more room for a bigger, better engine - bigger wings for bigger payloads.

Combined with enhanced redundancy and modularity, the Impaler C is not merely growing in popularity with maintenance crews and command staff, but has of course caught the eyes of its' pilots, with bold squadron markings on the tail becoming increasingly common. Among the most iconic is the cobra, which has led many to refer to flights as 'fangs'.

I was asked about giving one of the HDF project's planes some attention, and after around maybe 20 days of forgetting to finish it, it's finally here!

A blend of SU-47, F-16, and YF-23 inspired by Ace Combat's ASF-X Shinden II, the new Impaler makes use of the most up-to-date techniques I know of and should run nice and smooth.
