Having just completed the game, I wanted to say a few things about it.
I clocked in at just over 8 hours. Granted, I didn't hunt for all the weapon attachments, nor did I find all the in game files that world build.
Paid full price, got an 8 hour campaign. To me, it was well worth it. The game is extremely similar to FEAR, but with modern elements added. As a huge fan of the FEAR series, this was 30 USD well spent to see such a love letter crafted.
A lot of the time, you're pumping rooms full of bullets, almost living in slowed time, but that could just be my play style.
The story was not the selling point, but that's ok. The gunplay, the gameplay, the movement, every core aspect of this game was well polished and executed.
If you're looking for a more premium experience out of an indie title, this is the shining example, at least in the FPS genre.
The boss battles were a little hit or miss, but I personally do not stand boss battles in FPS games for a multitude of reasons. That being said, it was still pretty great overall. I could not recommend this title enough for any one who just wants to sit down, turn brain off, and shoot guns.
My biggest gripe would be the tiny weapon selection, but the weapons they do have here are incredible. There's just not a lot to choose from.
The environments were pretty standard. Cramped CQB rooms connecting by narrow corridors to open flowing rooms. But again, it works, so no complaints.
Overal: 8/10 experience, worth full price, definitely play this game.

I've seen written, "some consider this to be the quintessential arena shooter..", and that's because it is. This game's loop is the most straightforward there is. Kill demons, move to big room, kill more demons. Here's a gnarly and weird arsenal. Guns aren't as traditional as most FPS games, but that really is only by aesthetic. Most firearms are comparable to other games if you can look past the design.
Some levels are difficulty locked, which kinda stinks for newcomers, but seeing new arenas and hearing the songs associated with them is such a motivator to crank up the difficulty.
I've been playing this game since Hell Wars(Painkiller's console port), and even on a subpar port this game was divine. Now that I'm on pc and playing the cut levels, plus all the levels I remember as a kid, this really is just such a fantastic game. I bought the whole franchise for 10 bucks randomly on a sale because I was itchy to replay. Do yourself a favor, even at full price, these games hold up.

This game is nothing but a slaughter gallery.
This is good.
Many times we see media represent the Space Marines as squishy and failable. Naturally, they are very mortal, but we never see them reach a potential that rivals what the Codex speaks of.
This game changes that, I believe. You crush and kill never endingly, with little struggle. A true Power Fantasy, to say the least. The story alone was worth picking the game up, but some friends and I are going to play Exterminatus soon and just kill orks for merry making.
I feel very strongly that sometimes, having a game where you are nearly un-opposed is not bad, and this game fills that role to the last man.
The Emperor Protects.

This game has a difficulty curve and is not a horror game by any means. This doesn't mean it is a bad game. It covers a great part of the RE Lore. Do not let the Game For Windows problems discourage you. It is very well worth your money, especially if you can play with friends.

There is a lot to unpack here.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a really big idea. You have realistic weight limit for your backpack, bullets will kill you even on lower skill, you have stamina that is impacted by your carry weight. It goes on. If you're familiar with Hardcore Fallout, this shouldn't be too much more foreign to you. I will say this is harder still. Even with big armor and guns, I still struggle to really assert dominance in combat. But that is ok, because it forces you to think. Any combat scenario can be approached with stealth, or avoided if you're really good. With that in mind, don't be afraid to loot AK's and shotguns anyway. Humans aren't your only worry and animals will follow you and harass you if you allow them to do so.
There are TONS of sidequests and jobs, so money and resources are never in short supply. You have to just be willing to do them. Some of them are small and tedious, but still warrant a nice payout, especially when you get rolling with the money. There are factions and whatnot, so doing jobs for factions will improve their mood to you, and I seem to see this affects trading prices and such.
Overall, a well thought out game with a HEAVY mod scene, if you're into that. Well worth every penny.
