I used to play a lot of WoW when it first came out up till its Wrath of the Lich King expansion. As time went out I felt like the game took advantage of my time, when I hit max level I felt "What was the point?". I pretty much gave up on MMOs in general until I tried out Realm Reborn. Everything I disliked about MMOs were things that FFXIV did right. This world feels lived in, I don't feel like it wastes my time, if I want to play every class in the game I can do it from one character without even logging out. If I want to fight bosses because that's the coolest part of some end game content they just let you jump right into the boss fight (Trials). Queuing up is fast and easy. All classes are designed to play a certain way which isn't a bad thing because if you dislike one class, play another. You level up faster if you already have high level classes. You can buy a house or apartment and furnish it Animal Crossing style. Crafting actually feels involved and rewarding. Gathering is a minigame. I don't know, try it out. I will say the initial stretch of main quest kind of drags but its worth it once you hit level 50. The entire game opens up into so much content from that point forward.
