This is truly great game.

I think it will become the game against which others will be measured. Stable, deep, well voice acted, you can truly do anything with the situations and therefore be any character. Graphics are excellent.

This really is the Dungeons and Dragons game I hoped computers would some day allow us to enjoy, and here it is.

Wow! Truly, wow!!!

Fun world builder where you convert a dry and uninhabitable world into a habitable one. Light factory sim with easy transportation. Best part is the scale. You start off small and soon you are using wide slices of the greater world to develop. But wait...then the environment changes and suddenly the terrain is different. Just enough fun to make me happy at the end of a long day. Fingers crossed as the development of the game continues they add more of the same fun into it.

Controls are challenging and you will spend a long time just figuring out how to make anything work. Nothing felt intuitive.

For anyone who loves the Warhammer Universe or who wanted to play in a Hive City that fits into any of the Eisenhorn books, this game gives you that experience. The settings are beautiful and many times I will stop during a mission just to take screen shots of the universe they have created in this game.

It quickly becomes a very boring game.

I am told the endgame content is good but I honestly have lost interest in playing games where you have to grind through a boring part for days or weeks to get to an interesting part.

Passing on this one.

I really enjoyed this game. It gives you a taste of what looks to be an extremely fun game. There is tremendous detail already built into the game. If you zoom in with the camera you can see the power and lubrication amounts of each robot (Remember to build a Robot room with a power chargers AND a lubricator to keep your robots going!!!). There is tremendous detail in the individual parts as you put products together whether they are different coloured rubber ducks or as you assemble basketball nets.

I also like the idea of the different delivery methods. Although you only have access to the truck in this version, you can see trains, ships and helicopters linked to other buildings.

I also like the fact that they have removed the need to maintain each individual machines. Consistent with the robot theme of the games, little drones come down and maintain the various machines. You can upgrade individual machines to the next version and that means each factory could be built out to be very different depending on what you want to specialize with.

Also, although limited in this version, there looks like there is an extensive outdoor portion of the game with trees and power sources (wind turbines) that you look to be able to unlock.

Finally, it appears that as you build more products, you get rated on the quality of the products your factory produces. Lower quality products make more money, high quality are more expensive but appear to improve your reputation. I noticed new special blueprints require you to have a higher level quality so again, this is another interesting dimension of the game. I am interested to see where that goes.

The game is currently free to try so if you like these kinds of building games I would recommend you try it one evening and then decide for yourself if you are going to add it to your wish list.

I did because my bet is that the finished product will be really impressive.

Enjoy! :-)

Steep learning curve at first to understand how pieces fit together. Still too early to know whether Icarus has real staying power or not.

One observation is that in some missions you may spend 4 hours preparing (upgrading your equipment, building armour, making medicines) in order to do something that will only take you 10-15 minutes to finish.

That said, the first 40 hours have been very addictive.
