Servers are down because they are fixing a RCE (Remote Code Execution) exploit that has been in their online for every souls game on PC. Fixes like that take time. If they put the servers up now your PC will still be vulnerable.

I agree with the not recommended post though, seeing as this exploit has been in every game for this long before getting noticed.
