My boyfriend gifted me this game so I gave it a and I'm very glad I did. It's genuinely been a very tough on-going journey with this game.

Because of how fast the game is, no magic or summons, no grinding levels or equipment, no shortcuts compared to other souls games and punishing aggressive spamming gameplay while rewarding engaging in fights while calm I quickly found out I have an inferiority complex with BPD. I figured this out because of my mental breakdowns, Sekiro is the reason I figured more about myself.

The inferiority complex is rooted with my abandonment issues I believe, I feel worthless when I die and that I'm useless, this kicks off my BPD believing everyone will leave me and pushes me into a mental breakdown.

What Sekiro is doing is aiding me in fighting against my inferiority complex by altering my mentality.

Instead of determining my self worth on dying, I get happy over the minor self improvement with each death. Especially when I learn a combo string. Set small goals each death to achieve instead of outright winning, it helps ^^

If a strategy fails, it's the fault of the strategy and doesn't mean you're worthless or flawed as an individual.

"I'm crap at this game, I'm stupid." upon death turns to "I figured out how to deflect 2 of the bosses attacks. I can work towards deflecting the third attack, I'm making good progress."

If I slip up and start melting down I journal the thoughts to reassure myself that I'm not worthless and that this is just my inferiority complex trying to force it's way into my brain.

Defeat will happen in this game, it teaches you to replace the hate from losing with love and admiration you got from self-improvement.

I also learned the brain applies everything you learn better upon resting, so taking breaks if it becomes too much will actually make you better!

This game actually feels like a form of therapy to me. It's structured similarly to therapy, if you struggle with similar issues please give this game a try.

This game genuinely saved my life, it taught me how to recognise I have OCD which pushed me to experiencing Derealization episodes (Which is where you believe life isn't reality, pretty much it's like living through hell itself).

I was deadset on unaliving myself the next time I had a Derealization episode, there are 2 characters called Takaya & Jin throughout the course of the game taught me that I suffered from intrusive thoughts as apart of my OCD and ways to calm it down.

I still do struggle with my OCD, but ever since I played Persona 3 back in 2022 I haven't had a Derealization episode since. Even though most people dislike Takaya and Jin because they lacked depth in the original, the minimal interactions I had on this game are the sole reason Persona 3 holds a special place in my heart.

If you struggle with intrusive thoughts or OCD, I believe this game is worth a shot to see if they'll resonate with you. Here's one quote in particular that is spoken by Jin that stuck with me the most:

"Don't be bound by the past, don't look to the future. Simply live in the moment". I applied this quote to myself, instead of fixating on my intrusive thoughts I opted to just focus on what's happening currently in the moment and it actually calmed my OCD down. I didn't know I had OCD back then, but for some reason unknown to me at that point it calmed me down.

After in-depth researching regarding OCD I now know why. You push out intrusive thoughts, they'll come back harder. If you try to argue with the intrusive thought itself, you make it stronger and worse. So why did this quote in particular be the thing that got me to deal with my OCD?

Because you have to fight the thought with a specific thought that doesn't dissect the intrusive thought or ignores/pushes it out. So let's say I have an OCD impulse that goes like "I have to check every reply to hate me", by telling myself to not fixate on the future and just simply live in the moment I have dealt with the thought in a way that hasn't strengthened it. I don't argue with the contents of the intrusive thought and just deal with it as a concept, if that make sense.

There's plenty of other quotes that stuck with me because of these 2 characters, I am forever grateful that this game got remade to breathe new live into these 2 new characters. While people still aren't a fan of Jin, some people have became a fan of Takaya. Having my #1 comfort characters being liked by people is honestly one of the best gifts to ever been given.

I am not joking when I say it's edging on impossible to complete this game. It suffers from a game breaking bug where all enemies have aimbot. No, I don't mean it in a git gud type of aimbot where you say it out of frustration, I mean genuine aim bot.

In original, enemies would shoot at you and only a few shots would land every hit. However Grove Street Games ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up when remastering. In the original, the enemies would be coded to always hit you perfectly when shooting at you while you're in a vehicle, god knows how they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up this badly but they gave this aim to enemies while you're also on foot. A MASSIVE ♥♥♥♥ up on their end.

So you could literally be ages away from an enemy and as soon as they notice you, they instantly land each shot. There's a mission which pushed me to my breaking point where you randomly get teleported in front of 10 enemies and they instantly kill you. This is no exaggeration, they genuinely instantly kill you. Don't believe me, the mission I'm referring to is called "Beat down on B Dup" if you want to look it up.

Unless if you do extreme preparation before hand and get lucky, it's literally impossible to complete this mission due to this game breaking bug. It's so frustrating since this mission is literally at the END of the game, like you complete 80+ missions you're preparing for the final confrontation but because of this game breaking bug you can't progress past this point.

Such a disappointment that one of my childhood games got handled with such little care, even a bigger disappointment considering this is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ROCKSTAR GAMES.

DLC is not worth the content you get from it, in Tactica they don't actually include the 3d Persona models. So all you get is essentially a png image (The velvet room doesn't have 3d models of the personas, they literally just plaster a png image when viewing said persona) alongside an overpowered passive skill.

When you equip one of these Personas, Arsene is still the main model the game will use when attacking with a Persona. If they 3d modelled the Personas in I would recommend, but this is just them slapping png images and charging £8 for it which I can't justify at all.

Love Tactica but this DLC is just a rip off, it's reskinned guns that become useless halfway into the story for £8.50. Probably should've just been in the base game ngl

This DLC is a similar case with the main game, I wish there was like a neutral button instead of like/dislike since I believe this DLC sits around that. I love the gameplay & story in this DLC but it is very difficult to make the argument that it's worth £16/$20.

The story is beautiful, essentially revolving around someone going down the path of wanting to destroy and ruin everything since they've been burned by the world too many times. Which then follows to a gradual redemption arc of the main cast trying to snap them out of their mentality, it has one of my all-time favourite messages in video games. I only wish this wasn't restricted to a DLC story but instead fledged as a full on story in a Persona spin off's main story or in another mainline Persona entry game imo.

The gameplay is excellent as well, even if you've explored every aspect of the main gameplay system present in the base story you will get a fresh aspect of the gameplay to explore. Both in terms of visuals and mechanics, they actually change the combat to be heavily dependent on the introduction of this new mechanic.

The mechanic itself is shooting barrels/enemies to get paint on the ground, if you're standing on the paint you gain resistance but it also works against you. If the enemy shoots at you/barrels, then you'll be stuck on their paint and if you get shot you will be downed. You also can't attack while sitting on the opposition's paint. This mechanic is very fun and offers a different approach to combat, definitely enough to keep you invested until the DLC ends.

There are some gripes I have with the DLC's gameplay, mainly the removal of preparation mechanics such as shop & fusing. Though since the DLC is very short this didn't negatively impact the DLC too much for me, especially since all the fusing & shop buying won't transfer back into the base game.

Upon completing the base game and the DLC, you get to use Akechi & Kasumi in base game's NG+ which is pretty neat. But considering the NG+ content isn't very much I think they should've let you use these characters on your first playthrough in base game if you do decide to beat the DLC prior to tackling the base game's story. (I can't think of much reason to do a second playthrough besides 100% compendium & getting rest of achievements.).

Best way to see if this DLC is worth it is if you like the style of story Tactica is telling, you'll get an emotional story here but it is short. If you want content that will last you a long time then this DLC may be a tough purchase, you do get Kasumi & Akechi in NG+ which could provide incentive to replay through the main story again. Like I said, wish there was a neutral button because this DLC is amazing but it's very hard to provide a justification for it's price point.

If you're on the fence about buying this, best advice I can offer is to wait for a sale.

I'm going to start this review by saying that unless if you mod this game, it will look like trash. I had to install 8 mods to put this game into acceptable condition, be prepared for that.

Persona 3 holds a very special place in my heart, the game tackles existential topics and helped me understood parts about myself such as my intrusive thoughts which can push me to derealization episodes.

Derealization episodes so bad that I can become suicidal, without this game I would still be struggling to understand that my intrusive thoughts aren't actually my thoughts. Because of this, in a way this game saved my life.

There's a lot of praise I can give to this game's story, but I want you all to experience it on your own. I understand if the game looks dated, if you struggle to get into this version of the game I hope you give the remake a chance when it comes out <3
