ABOUT Winged Knights

Amor patriae nostra lex!

This group has been created for Empire: Total War players that are willing to play some more multiplayer games on that game, including participating in tournaments that might be held in the future.

It is also a tribute for the best cavalry in the world - the Winged Hussars, pearl of the Commonwealth of Poland-Lithuania.

May their spirit, effectiveness and pride be with you in multiplayer battles in any game you'll participate (not only Empire: Total War) and lead you to the victory!

If it is about Empire: Total War, respect your opponents and do not fear if you are outnumbered, as for the Grand Hetman of Lithuania Jan Karol Chodkiewicz said once:

"Policzym ich, jak ich pobijem." / "We will count them after we defeat them."

It was before the battle of Kircholm (1605). Chodkiewicz was informed that he would be fighting with "almost countless Swedish regiments". He did not fear and fought with Swedish army and won with minimal looses of his own men. Notable is the fact that he had less troops that Sweden, but Sweden lost around 70% of their army while Chodkiewicz lost less than 5% (around 100 dead, 200 wounded). Everything was decided in around twenty minutes. I wish you all that kind of battles in Empire: Total War.

The motto "Amor patriae nostra lex!" translated from Latin into English means: "Love to the fatherland is our law." Winged Hussars referred it to Poland and Lithuania, but that phrase is universal - it doesn't matter from what country you are, but if you truly love it and treat it as your greatest law.
