Oh, it's not even that complicated. Completely random planets, critters with random parts, and slightly random plants. Not even sure if the plants have random parts, or just palette switch.

"Quests" are 100% just walking up to a guy, and choosing one of 2-3 options. Some require nothing, others require a bit of a resource. And the person speaks gibberish with whatever words you know sprinkled in, with a writeup of what he's doing on the right.

So if you know "rare" and "isotope" and he says those two words together, he probably wants whatever option is rare isotope. Unless he's saying "DON'T GIVE ME THE..." in front.

Each planet is "random" - yet you're guaranteed to be able to find pretty much anything you need. Worst-case scenario, you go find a crashed ship, switch to it, recycle all the mods, then switch back and take what you need.

That sounds to me like you're basically exploring the planets people created in Spore? I can see how folks would dig that, but yeah, that does sound like there needs to be some other activity to go along with it. Altho at the same time, having quests just generated in a mad-libs fashion like in Fallout 4 can be it's own kind of hell.

The RNG is hooked too tightly to everything. The focus is so broad that nothing matters. It's also a shitty port, in that a few mods later it looks loads better.

So you have random landmass, loading in too close, but you can't see anything anyway, because a dumb autopilot won't let you steer. You land, and use scanners to find anything, or just fly around randomly. Animals are put together randomly, a wolf thing is a herbivore, something harmless looking charges you and dinks your shield.

And once you max all your stuff... you're done. Unless you LIKE just wandering and getting new fuel.

Yeah, I hear it cold sucks a fat one on the PC. It still looks cool enough that I'm waiting for a patch and a price drop.
