I think it is pretty safe to say most if not all of you in this group have heard of this new game about to be released as Early Access. It finally hit the Steam Store today and for only $25, you can have it in January!

Already at work. So far a dozen units are operating in it and can be expected to see that number explode in the coming months. And as such, we are getting started early on building a realism community based a lot off the realism communities of the Day of Defeat series' communities had.

First let me say that I have hardly any right to write this. I cannot say I ever knew him very well, but it does pain me to see that very little waves where created after his death that now three years after the fact I am just hearing about it. So hopefully, this reaches those who knew him or would like to share their condolences to a fellow gamer.

G. Lazendorfer was the 13th individual to ever enlist in my unit so I got to see the better side of him than what I saw of him during the UWFL. A very passionate player who was brimming with ideas and ways to make a realism gaming unit better. I knew it was only a matter of time before he would go back out and make his own unit from how hungry he was for the realism scene.

After he was discharged from the 3rd Marines, he went back to the DODS to co-lead the 6th Airborne until his death in 2013.

Lanz played with the 1st RB during his days in DOD Source. The 1st RB I believe played all three seasons and Lanz was quite a regular on the forums and kept them very...very active.

There is a new game heading into pre Alpha Testing phase next week (public is allowed via $60 kickstarter donation) that from first glimpses proves to be the next Day of Defeat Source. Public Beta phase will begin in July and will cost $10 less if you prefer to wait. Early release will be in August for $25. And finally, the final release will be in December for $??.

"Days of War" is unique in that it is not unique at all. What they did was, they redid all the old WW2 Classics and revamped it all under a new engine and set the play style to that of DODS, albeit a little slower speed. All the main stock maps from DODS where redone, along with main maps from other classics such as the old Medal of Honour games and I think even CoH.

I am sure for a few of you this will warrant a shout out to your old realism buddies to see if they would like to proceed in reforming your units. If you are unsuccessful, please feel free to swing by www.3rdMarines.org as we have decided to leave WW1 Source after 6 years (games pretty dead now unfortanatly) to venture into Days of War ourselves. We are currently just starting the transition so recruiting will remain closed until April 3rd.
