same here. black screen with any video change settings I contacted support and nothing. you can stream it, but it looks so dark and ugly, i dont even think streaming is working properly. i tried to stream metro 2033 redux and its the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥ dark screen. on the new oled.

Same problem. I bought a copy last night specifically to play on my new OLED Deck and I get the black screen if I try to set the appropriate resolution.

Same here. As a workaround I've found that you can run in windowed mode and it will fill the screen; although there does seem to be a slight hit to the framerate.

Able to get it working at full resolution by going to game options and switching Compatibility to Proton 6.3-8.

Then switch steam deck to desktop mode and modify the config.xml file found here:

/home/YOUR USERNAME/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/8400/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/Bizarre Creations/Geometry Wars Retro Evolved/config.xml

Changing the values to the following:

windowed="true"
windowWidth="3418"
windowHeight="1923"
screenWidth="1280"
screenHeight="800"
keepAspectRatio="true"
antiAlias="true"

Hopefully works for others as well.

I found much the same solution earlier before heading out to work, so you saved me having to post that looooong path, it took me ages to find the config file!

I haven't needed to set any specific compatibility for it to work, although have found that no matter what compatibility is selected the game seems to hang on exit; but that doesn't prevent it from playing just fine.

Also, you can have windowed="false" for a proper full screen, and it works perfectly.

Once I get to Application Data all I have is a Microsoft folder.

Had the same issue initially, the Bizzare Creations folder didn't show up until I switched the proton version, and ran the game at least one time after making the change.

Oddly enough running the game while in desktop mode let me change resolution and save it with no issues. Didn't have to mess with the xml file.

Thanks for the help, now i want to understand why the game starts in italian in desktop mode and in english in gaming mode

changing to windowed while in gaming mode helps, hard to say deck verified when the most basic of features are broken
