Singularity

Singularity

Subtitles?
Alright, this is the first modern game I played that got no subtitles, and it's sooo important with these tapes and russian accents.
I checked the settings like 5 times, on video, audio, and controls, but there's nothingthere.
Am I missing something?

Unfortunately, the game had a rushed release, so a lot of the more convinient accessibility options did not have time to be implemented.

I don't think this can be blamed on a rushed release, but rather on Raven Software. Same thing happened with their other game Quake IV. They just didn't care for subtitles.

English is not my mother language, therefore subtitles are really important for me.
This lack of attention to non-american players makes me mad, but oh well, I'll just play the game as it is.
Thanks for the help! :)

I am currently doing a Let's Play of the game where I have been adding my own subtitles for all the dialogue and the tapes. So if you find any bits hard to understand, you can check out that bit in my Let's Play to make sure you understood it correctly.

I'm not that far into the game yet though, it takes a long time to do, so far I'm just after the first fight with Russian spestnaz soldiers, uploaded that a couple of days ago.

They did do full subtitles for Wolfenstein and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the two games they released in 2009 right before Singularity.

In the case of Singularity, they were so rushed that they didn't even get to do proper Xbox 360 controller support - if you plug in an Xbox 360 controller it says stuff like "press pad 7" "press pad 8", even though the game was a port from 360.

Also all the movie cutscenes were created in one week! The endings, Katherine's MIR-12 video on her laptop, Barisov's movie showing you that America was destroyed and Demechev ruled the world, they had to make them all in a week.

That's why Barisov's movie shows some newspapers where you can see that they are rull of random nonsense like ghgfjghfg fgfhf fgfhgfg, it's because that was originally supposed to be a small texture that would just be newspaper stuck on Barisov's wall, and it got turned into something you see full-screen in a movie.

Activision is to blame for no patches. Once the game was shipped, they dropped all funding of the game and that included funding for patches. And we can't really expect the developers to work for free.

That's shame, I am just playing the game and it is like wolfenstein. Very good job, but while I understand written text, speech is very hard for me

Not that I have seen. If you do play do yourself a favor and turn down the music so you can hear the speech better.

You can use win 11 live captions to get subtitles, not perfect but that's the only way you can get subtitles.
To get this to work run the game in windowed (ALT+ENTER), adjust the resolution to make a space for subtitles or change resolution, you can set custom resolution in registry (look it up on pcgamingwiki), use Simple Runtime Window Editor and select remove borders you can also adjust resolution in SRWE. (Instead of SRWE you can use bordeless windowed or special k if you don't want to run the app each time you start a game.)

Does Win 10 have this option?
