Welcome to the Karoshi Club

How, I mean what? is the "hook"?

After clicking my mouse button 30 times I'm still not hooked. so I tap the Escape key, because, well the culture and reality portrayed is so foreign yet, the premise so mundane but improbable at the same time. Starting sound volume is too high, an instant turn off until you get as far as being able to tap 'S' to bring the ambient background sound out and up to a more immersive level, but still not enough to save the story. Is there a hook, because a piece of paper would have worked just as well. Why does...
