great game, story ,hard in a good way ,learn how to get a horse and cart makes farming loot in early repeat dungeon raid for armor easy , black smith can repair your gear make shure to have some coin , banks sell houses and boats , good times !

I have watched over 100 hours of Let's Play footage on this game, and I really love it from that perspective. I would probably really enjoy playing it on my own, but I can't get out of the first dungeon. I've only tried a handful of times. Maybe one day I will try it again. I love this game from a nerdy Elder Scrolls lover perspective. I may not be good enough at PC gaming to actually play it though. Unfortunately. Maybe one day someone will release a mod that is called Daggerfall for Idiots Who Can't Make it out of The First Dungeon. That would be awesome.

This game has some really cool immersive elements like the open ended story and well rounded world building. Conceptually the large map adds to that as well, but in practice it just means that you fast travel everywhere and don't get to discover things on your own. Ultimately the game itself isn't fleshed out enough to be fun. Combat is pretty boring, and the randomly generated dungeons and quests rarely provide anything interesting. The lack of a dialog system really hurts the game too, because the few handmade characters just talk at you for a couple of paragraphs and you never really get to know them.
All that to say, vanilla Daggerfall feels empty; go play Morrowind instead, or the unity version of Daggerfall with a heap of mods.
