'Post-human' is a completely meaningless, valueless and inert setting. If a setting tells the viewer that humanity has already perished, then nothing in the story matters. The stakes are zero, because mankind had already fallen into oblivion.

Here we have another post-human - actually anti-human! - setting for a video game. The anti-human sentiment is hiding at the bottom of Haiku, the Robot's sparse background lore.

So, clearly I didn't care about the world I was exploring, nor its lifeless inhabitants. The allure of "Metroid/vania" gameplay mechanics are what drove me forward ----- they're very good at that!

I don't think Haiku, the Robot creates a unique experience. It's another Hollow Knight clone. But since it's much shorter and less expansive, it could be worth it for fans of this subgenre to take <10 hours to play through it. I'll throw Haiku a blue thumbs up.

When I bought this game, I was hoping to recapture some of the magic I felt playing Hollow Knight. And perhaps something could be said about judging a game solely by comparison, but throughout my playthrough I couldn't help thinking of game as simply an inferior Hollow Knight. Exploration is not quite as rewarding, and bosses are too simple for my liking. This is not too say that Haiku the Robot is a bad game; certainly not! I enjoyed my experience enough to recommend it. But if you are expecting a game to fill that void left by the brilliance of Hollow Knight, you may wish to temper your expectations.
