Some advice about the mods we are looking for.

We appreciate all of your replies and suggestions; HUD's, UI's, and Big Bag forces everyone into a box that will always restrict somebody... we prefer to allow _all_ Users their choice of UI pack loaded alongside our mod pack.

We therefore prefer mods that _support_ everyone's mod choices rather than restrict them to override or work around a mod that blocks them from their prefered style.

We are thankful for any test feedback you can give us especially if this pack is compatible while in use above or below the HUD, UI, Storage, Overhaul, Gear, Drop, and Map mods of your choice and also give your opinion on how the mods inside Better Vanilla affect the balance of the game.

We certainly want this to have a functional 99% compatibility with Synergies (and without) and the class mods of anyone's choice... it's why we choose to focus on other aspects and leave UI's to individual decision.

I think it's worth stating that some mods included are intended to make the game easier by a %... for us it's a question of whether this "easier" is balanced and what action should we take to fix whatever issue there may be and if this is good for most everyone since it seems 1 of 10 visitors have subscribed to this mod pack and we try to consider as much of everyone's needs as possible while staying balanced.

Since we can only get a good understanding from the few who decide to talk to us.

= = = = = = =

Is there a mod we have included that you don't like?

Feel free to ask for that mod's removal since any mod deemed, voted, or felt to be too powerful by you and anyone who says so will be considered and with enough proof and feedback we will move that mod over to "Better Spicy".

Also remember that we are considering a "Bitter Difficult Game" for a much more oppressive and less rewarding experience for those who feel "Vanilla" is not hard enough.

Keep Better Vanilla balanced so speak up and tell us!

Recommended for all:

http://node2.projectplanet.cn/@steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=176373745&searchtext=mamba

This covers many pet mods that we currently don't have including "Anarch Pets" and has been fixed and balanced by Mamba so it can be trusted.

http://node2.projectplanet.cn/@steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=693517031&searchtext=thug

This one is newer so it wasn't included in the pet pack above yet it is balanced.

http://node2.projectplanet.cn/@steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=310273864&searchtext=mini

Also newer and it should be compatible.

http://node2.projectplanet.cn/@steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=299733197&searchtext=book

Another one to consider.

http://node2.projectplanet.cn/@steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=659570026&searchtext=pet

Adds an armored raccoon pet.

Utility Mod: Allows access to the Stash and Shared Stash while outside of towns.

Furl and Gorn: recommended for Spicy:

it gives 3 sockets and 5 enchants... much more balanced and better access than 5 Sockets Mod... and probably best to place in Spicy since it's rather powerful for Vanilla.

So yes it's a good replacement for Sockets.

Considered for Vanilla and Spicy:

http://node2.projectplanet.cn/@steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=144969748&searchtext=fisherman

Adds fishing spots to dungeons... we previously had this in Alpha and the one below:

http://node2.projectplanet.cn/@steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=433469898&searchtext=fishing+add

This adds a map marker to fishing spots outside dungeons so nobody will forget where the fishing spots are and adds a fish vendor.

it's worth mentioning their utility since vanilla does not have these features without them.

Bitter Difficult Game Mod Links: all four mods here should be compatible but this requires some testing first.

http://node2.projectplanet.cn/@steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=202515774&searchtext=difficult

Epic Mod increases all mob, champion values by 100% boss values by 120%

http://node2.projectplanet.cn/@steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=136704352&searchtext=boss+brutality

Boss Brutality increases boss values and adds boss bodyguards.

http://node2.projectplanet.cn/@steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=276773097&searchtext=difficult

This is mainly to remove 50% less of dodge, block, critical chance, parry...

I checked all the stat changes and it's balanced for a difficult game.

http://node2.projectplanet.cn/@steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=137499319&searchtext=monsters

This seems to be the most reliable mod to increase mob numbers by 2.5 to 5 times more.

This will ensure that there are plenty of foes to battle and it's far more balanced and functional than many other alternatives.

Bitter Difficult Game Death Penalty Mod Links: choose 1 of these 3 mods below.

http://node2.projectplanet.cn/@steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=150242119&searchtext=medium+core

This is a full loss (with-in level) of EXP, Fame, Gold. Some like this soft hardcore penalty.

http://node2.projectplanet.cn/@steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=143264730&searchtext=grim

This makes random between 12 penalties of death... probably 2nd hardest death mod.

Penalties are 4 cost versions of Town, Door, and Place.

The penalties have different chances so Medium Core is still the most difficult.

http://node2.projectplanet.cn/@steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=138734488&searchtext=difficult

This is an alternative in place of Medium Core: instead of -100% it's only -10% on death.

This is more forgiving than Medium Core and Grim Gate.

I favor using this since I expect it wouldn't be very fun to lose more than 10% EXP, Fame, Gold every death.

DO NOT USE: anything that changes the levels of game or new game + it does not work for multiplayer.

http://node2.projectplanet.cn/@steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=143150438&searchtext=apocalypse

Apocalypse, Torchfun Ultimate and Part 1 are proven to crash multiplayer so it's better to make "Bitter Difficult Game" harder by using basic mob stat boost mods instead like the ones I recommended earlier.

Fast Quit for me is 70% no 30% yes however I'll let you make the decision... True Mimic is included in Daylight Robbery so if Vanilla lacks Daylight... give it True Mimic since it's a good balanced addition to Vanilla.

Fast Quit removes the safety of mistakely mis-clicking the quit button... it solves one problem yet makes another one... I recommend allowing players the choice instead of adding it thereby forcing them to work around this... If Daylight Robbery is being moved to Spicy then Vanilla should have True Mimic... since Daylight includes it.

I asked the author of this mod for his thoughts on the mods posted here for our Bitter Difficult Game Idea:

http://node2.projectplanet.cn/@steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=808955534&searchtext=

reposted by me from the comments and written by "doudley" dec 9, 2016, 3:00am:
I remember using something like Mob Swarm. Going to a corner then suddenly being swarmed by enemies. I had to step away before I can make my move. It was fun.

To make your gameplay more difficult, modifying the graphs and death penalties is the way to go. But enemy spawns are strategic and narrative to the terrain. It would be more fun if the game has more than expected rather than the usual. Although in the long run, it doesn't matter if its more enemies or harder gameplay. As long as the story progression has not been noticebly compromised.

Boss Brutality and Mob Swarm seems more creative and fun but Epic Mod and Eclipse Elite feels more static and yet much balanced overall.

My advice given below.

I recommend this for Spicy... easy access to power.

This is a good mod... Unearthed Arcana may not function if this is added but it's a small loss for the large boost this mod offers.

I say Yes.

Some players like this mod and some others do not...

Our options are:

1. Ignore it.

2. Ask others about this.

3. Add this and wait for feedback.

4. Add this and explain that we intend to keep it.

Whichever option you choose, I'll support your decision.
