Gameplay Tips and FAQs
By happynaru
I will be covering gameplay basics, random tips, unlockables and secrets in this game. Since I played so much in the Original Japanese Vita version, I thought about creating a guide to help new and old players in Akiba's Trip. I would also update this guide regularly as I need to familiarise myself with the Steam version (and the English version) so I can create this guide better.

If there is something not covered in this guide, feel free to ask in the Comments section and I will try my best to help you.

Introduction
This is an action-adventure game about stripping people to kill them. If the Protagonist gets stripped or torn, he dies. So clothes are your health bars in this game. You lose your clothes, Game Over.
Difficulty Settings
There are 4 difficulty options in Akiba's Trip 2.

Easy - You will be able to deal low, middle and high damage with any hit. Your Hit Combo (NOT Strip Combo) will reset if you don't hit anyone after 5 seconds. When a costume HP is at 0, it takes 10 additional hits to destroy the clothes.

Casual - Standard. Hitting low will damage bottoms. Hitting middle wil damage tops and hitting high will damage hats/head accessories. Your Hit Combo (NOT Strip Combo) will reset if you don't hit anyone after 5 seconds. When a costume HP is at 0, it takes 10 additional hits to destroy the clothes.

Gamer - Harder. Enemies deal 2.5x more damage and take 2.5x less damage. Your Hit Combo (NOT Strip Combo) will reset if you don't hit anyone after 3 seconds. When a costume HP is at 0, it takes only 7 additional hits to destroy the clothes.

Otaku - Unlocked when Casual/Gamer is cleared. Enemies deal 5x more damage and take 5x less damage. Your Hit Combo (NOT Strip Combo) will reset if you don't hit anyone after 3 seconds. When a costume HP is at 0, it takes only 5 additional hits to destroy the clothes (more difficult to Strip as you might accidentally hit them while trying to hit someone else).

The higher the difficulty, the better quality the drops (from enemies) too.
So how do I Strip?
Continually dealing damage to the clothes will lower the clothes HP. When the clothes HP reaches 0, the clothes will flash red visually, it means they are vulnerable to stripping. Enemies are also vulnerable to stripping if the clothes HP is low but not 0 yet. Do take note that the low hits will only deal to their pants/skirts/any bottoms. Same applies to middle hits and high hits. (UNLESS you are playing on Easy, which any hit will deal damage to all 3 parts)

Attempting a Strip on low HP clothes, will trigger a button mash.

Attempting a Strip on high HP clothes, will deal very very minimal damage and nothing will happen.

Attempting a Strip on 0 HP clothes will Strip them.

Counter Strip will trigger if you do a Counter-Attack when the opponent's clothes HP is 0. (Pressing any attack button after the opponent strikes while you are blocking will initiate a Counter-Attack.)
Strip EXP and Levels (How to strip the enemy's clothes and keeping them)
(Note: If you do not strip your opponent and continue hitting them, their clothes will tear.)

Theoretically, Stripping let you get whatever clothes the other party is wearing. But when you first start the game, you would notice that when you do a Strip, the clothes get torn anyway. This is because you are not experienced enough to take the clothes off your enemies without damaging them (LOL, yeah I know).

In other words, the more you Strip, the more experienced you get. To check your Strip EXP, go to your Smartphone (when out of battle) -> Status. It should state your Level, Attack, Defense and Strip Level.

Different types of clothes needs to be levelled separately. For example, Uniform (Normal), Gothic (Normal) and Uniform (Rare), all these clothes are treated as different categories and needs to be levelled separately.

You can also buy Guidebooks on how to Strip to increase EXP. Different Guidebooks help different categories and they can be found at different shops around Akihabara.
Strip Combo
Successfully Stripping (holding any 3 attack button) their clothes (regardless of whether you get to keep them or not) will trigger a Strip Combo (QTE time). A Strip Combo awards more EXP to your character level the higher you chain your Combo goes. A Strip Combo can be chained together when enemies in the battlefield have any of their clothes HP at 0.

Should you fully strip 2 opponents sucessfully and have a Strip Combo of 7 or more, you can do a Strip Finisher, which allows you to get their Underwear. This is why in boss fights, mobs appear along with the boss, so you can strategically deal damage to all their clothes HP to 0, then initiate a Strip Combo. This is especially easy to do on Easy because any of your hits deal damage to all their Clothes HP and it takes 10 additional hits before the clothes actually gets destroyed. (To fully strip an opponent, you need to get rid of their head accessory, tops and bottoms).
How to get more Strip animations? (Arena fights at the Dojo)
Go to the Dojo and take on the Arena fights. Upon completion of a fight, you will get a new Strip Animation set to equip and you will also rank up. To do the Arena fight consecutively, you need to leave the area and come back. Alternatively, use the Fast Travel option on your map.

Once you finish the S Rank fight, there is one optional boss fight, and that is the Antoinette herself. You can only fight her only if you finish the S Rank Arena fight, and if you are playing on Casual or higher and also only when you are alone (no AI partner). This means if you play on Easy, she will not fight you. Defeating her will get you another set of a Strip Animation (tickle strip).

The last Strip Animation set (it's like the default strip animation, but done at 2X speed) is dropped by enemies in the Story missions. Just playing through normally will get you one eventually.
Getting "Busted"
Lol, this happens when you fight someone in the street and patrolling cops see you. They will attempt to fight you and take you into custody. If I remember right, they will arrest you the moment they manage to strip any 1 of your clothing. Cops have incredibly high defense for some reason so do take caution. Cops spawn more often especially when in late-game. Cops do not spawn when you are fighting during Main Missions. (In fact Main Missions are treated as a separate map on its own)
Consumable Items
There are many items you can purchase around the stores in Akiba's Trip. Some of these are items you can use in battle. However, most food and drinks are consumed the moment you purchase them (keywords are: use in immediate area) and these are commonly found in GoGo Curry, Sutadon or food places. Can of Oden and Can of Ramen can be taken out.

More items will be sold in the shop the further you progress in the game (in the current playthrough).

Take note all effects run out when you leave the area.

The different categories of items:

Luckier: Increase in item drop rate.
Learn better: Get more EXP
Stronger: Raises Attack Stat
Tougher: Raises Defense Stat
Something: Any random from above.

Depending on the keywords used, the temporary stat increase is different:

A bit more... Maybe: 1.1% increase

Also, expensive items does not mean they increase stats more. Take note of the description before using as some items are better off selling to shops.

Getting Dropped Items Fast (WIP)
Some enemies will drop items but all enemies will ALWAYS drop the weapon they are using when they die. And the pick up button happens to be Low Hit button too. So you will always attack when you are trying to pick things up and you really need to pick them up fast (especially on Main Missions where the fights are treated as a separate map, which means if all enemies are defeated and after a small amount of time, a cutscene will play, after the cutscene, you will load into the map but all the un-collected items will disappear).

So what you should do is to keep your weapon. This way you can spam the PickUp key while running around without getting interrupted.

Note that the Low Hit key and Pick Up key is the same for the Vita version. I have not tested the controls on PC.
Sub Missions and Expiry
Sub Missions that are in Red will mean that they are expiring soon (expires only when you complete the next Main Mission), an E-mail notification will also be sent to you. So make sure you finish the Sub Mission (and turn in, if necessary), before triggering the Main Mission. As you may have noticed, entering any area marked with a Yellow ! will immediately trigger the Main Mission, unlike Sub Missions where you need to actually go to the spot in the area.

So, in the event you have a Sub Mission at Yodobashi Camera, and the Main Mission happens to be there too. You can opt to go alone (if there is no other partners to go with) or with another character (who is not involved in the Main Mission or if the Main Mission requires you to be alone). In other words, if the Main Mission requires you to bring a partner to that area, going alone to that area will not trigger the Main Mission.
Unique Weapons, Combo Finishers and Unblockable Moves
There are many weapons in this game. But most common weapons share the same battle movelist. There are, however, certain Unique Weapons that has unique moves and are slightly superior than the ones dropped by mobs (and looks a lot cooler too). But there are normal weapons that have their own unique moves (usually is the unblockable move only) too.

The unique weapons are all held by main characters and the antagonists. Which means to say, Shizuku, Tohko, Rin, Shion, Kati, Imouto, Master, Tachibana brothers and the 2 Antagonists all have their Unique Weapons. Unique Weapons has additional moves that normal weapons don't. Unique Weapons also has a finisher after executing a combo. (low-low-low-low-low).

You can mix and match comboes for any weapon (low-low-mid-mid-mid), and additonally for Unique Weapons, the last hit will decide which finisher is used (if applicable). For example on the above (low-low-mid-mid-mid), the mid finisher is used. Finishers only deal the corresponding damage (mid finisher - mid damage, hi finisher- hi damage). Unblockable Moves, however, deals damage to all parts (low, mid and high) regardless of the difficulty. Enemies' unblockable moves also apply to you (damage to all parts).

Some of the weapons' moves as examples:
Cyalume Lightsticks - Doing the unblockable move will do a cheering dance (commonly done in concerts)

Pom-poms - Doing the unblockable move will make a cheering animation.

Cat paws - Doing the unblockable move will hit your enemy many times followed with a nya~

Crimson Daze (a red lightsaber) - Doing the unblockable move is a standard one-handed weapon move. But doing a mid finisher, will let you twirl your saber a few rounds.
How to get certain weapons
Nana's weapon can only be attained by fighting her (only possible in her final Side Mission), however doing so, will not get you the Nana Secret End. So its either her weapon and clothes, or her Ending.

Pops, Tachibana brothers and the Antagonist's unpowered up weapon can only be attained in Shion's Ending.

Antoinette's Fan (weapon) can only be attained by fighting her in the Dojo.
HELP! AI keeps getting stripped and they are doing really little damage late game.
Their character levels may be the same as you, but their equipment never changes. Its always at the default value. Which is really weak. When you unlock the ability to change their costume and weapon, you can equip them better "armor" and a better weapon. You can upgrade weapons and clothes in your Imouto Room. HOWEVER, you cannot upgrade their default item. For example, you want to upgrade Shion's bag (weapon), but you only have 1 (which is hers), you cannot upgrade them until you get it in the game in the future.

If you have not unlocked the ability to customise them yet, you can always set them to defensive mode instead of offensive mode. In defensive mode, they will always block and heal should they take damage.

On this note, to get your AI partner to attack whoever you have locked on, press the Offensive Mode key.
Imouto Room
You can pay your Imouto money to let her level up your clothes or weapons (to a maximum of 999). This makes you stronger as Equipments are very important in this game.

You can also play with your Imouto. This, I may or may not cover as I do not understand it fully myself :P
WTF. Some guy stripped my 999 Defense Clothes. It's gone now. What can I do?
Go to the pawn shop (5Days). It's located at the Electric Town Plaza. The shop should sell your clothes back to you. This shop also sells your Unlockable costumes and DLC costumes.

To prevent your clothes from getting stripped/destroyed, hold the "Keep your weapon key", will enable you to tidy up your clothes, healing full health to all your current equipped clothes.
Endings (Spoilers warning!)
There are various endings in this game. Basically you choose your favourite girl whenever the game lets you to and selecting the proper statement when the game prompts you to. There is a Relationship Stat, but it is hidden to the player. Simply speaking, getting any girl's Relationship Stat to >100 will get you the girl's ending. You can only get 1 girl ending per playthrough. There is no Harem ending.

Tohko Friend Route - Default ending if you fail to get the girl relationship. AKA Bad End.

Tohko Good End- Get her Relationship Stat to >100.

Shizuku Good End - Get her Relationship Stat to >100.

Rin Good End - Get her Relationship Stat to >100.

Shion Good End - Get her Relationship Stat to >100. (Shion's ending is also one of the hardest)

*Secret Ending*
Imouto End. - Complete all of her side Mission and help her get along with her friends.
This is the only ending that can stack along with any of the endings above. To unlock this Ending, complete all of her side Missions before they expire.

Someone else has posted a Steam Guide on how to get the different girls' endings. So do take a look at his guide for more in depth information.
Imouto Side Missions (WIP)
Final: She will ask you to accompany her to Yodobashi Camera. Once there, her 2 friends will appear. Clear up the misunderstandings between them. If you choose wrongly, you will battle either the 2 friends or your sister. As long as a battle occurs, it will fail the Imouto End.

If you do it correctly and the misunderstanding is cleared, after completing any Ending, there will be an additional scene where you get a CG of your Imouto.
Unlockables
There's really too much to list here but I will list some of them. Feel free to ask in the comments if there's something specific you are looking for.

Clearing the game with any Good End will allow you to change the Model of your character (Any difficulty). Note: You get more Models to change the more Good Ends (of different characters) you clear.

Clearing the game with XXX girl's Good End will allow you to change the Model of that character (Any difficulty).

Clearing the game on Gamer difficulty will allow you to customise the Voice of your character.

Clearing the game on Casual difficulty (or above) will unlock the Change Character Size option.
What carries over in New Game Plus Mode?
Carries Over:
1. All your items except Key Items. Your items level remain as it is.
2. Your money
3. Your Strip EXP

Your Level DOES NOT carry over. So even if you did grind to the maximum LVL 99, it gets reset on the next playthrough.
Thanks
Thanks for reading my guide :D

There is still a morale system in the game but its harder to actually shift it to an extent that the people of Akiba will hate you, because for every vampire kill you do you gain 2 more points doing subquests nets you 4-5 same goes for doing the repeatable side quests (Manner Mode/Silent Mode, Synth hunts). Especially once you get to a point you are mainly farming synths for drops <_<

Somehow I fumbled my "imouto end" which I got on my PS3 playthrough as I didnt got the quest from pops even though I got all the 4 sister sidequests

Really the sister had the same reaction when you told her to come and hug/kiss you at the end of the sister route in the Japanese version? That is odd for the Japanese. Good I suppsoe but odd. Especially given everything else that is there that is rather questionable. I don't know many brothers and sisters that put their heads in each others laps...

It's been a while since I played it, but I remember there weren't any story differences between English Version and Japanese version aside from advertisements. Japanese version had advertisements/flyers with actual phone numbers you could call on them. English version was 'censored'.

happynaru - I would be interested in any other changes made from the original Japanese verzion - I expect the sister end might have been changed though not sure.

Side quests may increase the public's opinion of you. But to be honest, I have not seen any difference in this game. I know in the first game (which was not released outside of Japan), if you continuously strip non-vampiric civilians, eventually, all of them will run away from you upon seeing you.

or something like that....

idk it said it had to do with the characters,,,,like idk maybe the other characters' views of the situation?
happynaru  [author] 21 Oct, 2016 @ 8:05pm
Aren't those just side quests?
Minasly 21 Oct, 2016 @ 7:33pm
i saw the game mention "side-scenarios" wtf does that mean?

Oh sure, go ahead.
