Well I don't know exactly what the problem is.
I believe you aren't able to connect to other players or start lobbies due to your connection to the server as sometimes i can join and create as soon as i open the game and other times i cannot.
As well as names not showing up until you are "connected"

It's actually quite simple.
Just don't lose patience
If you open the game and can't join or create, close your game and reopen.
Look at the top right of the main menu, If it says AUTHORIZATION ERROR. Just Wait.
Wait until the error disappears before touching anything and make sure there isn't a notification at the bottom left that says CONNECTING.
Once the error and the connection notification are gone, Make sure all players planning to play are in the same region either NA or Eu, You should now be able to join and create the lobby.

A lot of people get frustrated and refund the game, but honestly this game is so scary and fun that i recommend trying before you decide to refund. Don't let this problem deter you from the game.
