The Basics
To make sure this isn't just your PC under preforming, make sure that:
  • Your PC is properly cooled
Overheating could cause crashing and instablity to your PC, this is essential to make sure to check your fans for dust or anything that could be disturbing your fans.

  • Your Drivers are up-to-date
(If they need to update make sure you clean install your drivers it helps a lot when you're having issues with other games)

For me I have a NVIDIA Drivers so this is how it would show up for me:

Then make sure that "Clean Installation" is selected.

  • Then lastly making sure that Windows is updated to its latest version.
This personally has never been a solution for me but it might work for you if you don't have automatic updates on or you could have a buggy version of Windows at the time.
Start-Up Crash
If when you start-up MW Remastered and you just face a black screen, you're most likely running Windows 10 and should do the following:

Go to the MW Remastered Download
(SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered/h1_sp64_ship)
Right click "h1_sp64_ship", Properties, click on "Compatibility" and check the box to run the .exe in Windows 8 mode. You should be able to open it through Steam perfectly!

Fixing "The Bog" Crash
  • First Disable "Shader Preload" & "Shader Preload during Cinematics"

  • If you aren't able to disable it or if it crashes while you're trying to disable it you'll have to delete the ".dcache" files which are located in: (SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered/main)

  • Now if you made it this far and Steam gives you this prompt, and click Cloud Files
(I honestly forgot which one I clicked but I believe I clicked Cloud Files)

Now you should be able to run MW Remastered smoothly and experience no more crashes!
If you have suggestions or more tips please comment them down below and I will adjust this guide to be more helpful for people in the future who are also suck and trying to solve this bug.
Multiplayer Shader Cache

This is just and update if you wanted to get into multiplayer you will see this screen show up and all you'll have to do it cancel it as quickly as possible and it will ask you if you you're sure you'd want to cancel it, click cancel again and make sure to disable anything with "Shader" & "Cache" related when you go to options and it should be under Advanced Graphics.

none of these are viable options for a crash that is not caused by any of this, the real reason is you have a PC that sucks and you need to go back to console.

Disable the 2 shader preload options and that solves the bog crash

What Comrade Ogilvy said, just turn off shader preload and you don't get the fatal errors for the Charlie Don't Surf mission
