Introduction
Hey, I made this little list for anybody out there that asked me or wanted a bit of help on not getting scammed and for some advice on trading in DOTA2/PUBG/CSGO/H1Z1 (pls dunt hate or spam me :/ ily guys)
Pretty much this
If a trade seems at all suspicious block and unfriend the person immediately (if your making so much profit that's it's almost to good to be true, it probably is).
Trusting people
DO NOT TRUST ANYONE , it doesn't matter if you "know them" (unless it's your friend irl), there's nothing you can do to stop them from lying to you, don't let them take your items to trade to other people (middleman) and don't let them "pay you back later when their items are tradable."
Level 0 accounts
Before you add somebody make sure that their profile isn't level 0 and make sure they have at least some +reps if your looking to trade with them. If a level 0 or any private account adds you, decline their friend request, they're just going to spam you with scam links.
Links
Honestly, I this is the easiest and most obvious scam attempt out there and I really don't feel sorry for you if you fall for this. If somebody sends you a link (with the exception of gyazo, imgur, or steam screenshots links) DO NOT click on it, it's fake, and it will hack your account and steal your items.
DOTA2/PUBG/CSGO/H1Z1 lounge HTML editing
Always check the quality of the skin at least twice before you accept or send the trade offer, people often change the html on ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (a website I definitely recommend for trading) to make it look like the quality of skin is different so they can trick people and make profit. I'd have to say this is the most common scam I've heard people complaining about recently.
Steamrep admins
pretty much going back to the 3rd topic about trusting people, don't fall for this, if somebody wants a "trusted" steamrep admin to check your item then it's probably just their friends account or their alt wanting to take your items.
Wallet code and cash trading
I highly recommend not doing cash or steam wallet code trades, again going back to topic 3, unless it's somebody you know irl it's really hard to know whether or not their just going to run off with your items (Note- just because they have a level 100+ steam account and tons of rep it doesn't guarantee that your items are safe).
Patterns
Don't be fooled by people selling "rare" patterns that don't actually exist make sure you always inspect their knife/weapon in-game and look up whether it's a legitimate pattern before you give them huge overpay.

Some examples of real patterns (I'm not listing every single pattern here these are just some examples): 100% fade, ruby/sapphire/black pearl Doppler, blue gem case hardened (only considered blue gem if it's 70% blue or more), angel/diamond/phoenix slaughters.

Examples of some fake patterns (again not listing all fake patterns here this is just an example): "jiggly bones" on an m4 X-ray (absolute bs do not pay extra for this), max gold fade (it's not rare it's just a knife with a bad fade), fake ruby/sapphire/black pearl Doppler (looks cool but don't pay extra for it, people advertising a Doppler as a pink galaxy is not a scam unless their trying to get you to give a ton of overpay for it, then it's up to you to decide whether it's worth it).
Conclusion
Thank you for read my guide!

Private accounts (mine for example) can exist for multiple reasons. Mine is private because of certain games I play where you get off-line raided if your profile ain't private.
Next to that, any private profile should not show you a level (69 for me currently) so they should always appear as level 0 (or they didn't properly private it).

So, for private accounts: Check if its private for public by accepting the request, if as a friend you cant see it either delete them or ask them to unprivate the profile. In case of a no, see what the writer said and remove it.

Good guide over all but there's two things you're euhm, inaccurate on.
make sure they have at least some +reps if your looking to trade with them.
Nobody can ever do a trade this way, because the first trade to be made for everyone can't already have +reps on their account can they?

Also, +rep is also given by whole steamgroups to eachother just to make them scammers have an easy life. Don't trust +reps at all!
