I dont know how far in I am in all actuality, but I believe Im getting close to the end of this game. Is it a fun game, at times yes, very fun. The reason only being at times fun is simply due to feeling like youre fighting controls. Now I've played and beaten my fair share of platformers (Celeste, SMBF, IWBTB, etc) so I feel like I can confidently say, the physics of this game are a bit janky at times. This game feels like it has so much crazy potential to be a perfect game, for what it is- a platform puzzle shooter game. But then Im faced with reality in that as great as this game is and has the potential to be flawless, it simply isnt, it just doesnt feel like some of the mechanics, especially around the grapple, are fleshed out and work smoothly. Personal complaint as well is how the character controls sometimes. Why is it that my character can slide around on grass, and somehow make it feel like im playing the god awful ice levels from literally any game ever. while I could rant on more about everything I disliked about this game, I wont, because it IS a great game, just feels like it coulda used a bit more polish on some aspects in it. Love the story and lore so far, but it would be nice to see a patch that maybe makes the grapple less janky, especially when u can start getting it stuck around a wall, only for it to then go through said wall.
TLDR: get this game on a discount, it's not worth the full 20 imo unless they polish out some mechanics in the game. The story is amazing, and art is pretty nice too, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ does it feel annoying playing this sometimes due to inconsistency w the grapple

So...I've played and I believe even beaten the 1st GR game on hardcore, and as annoying as it was. It wasnt usually a fault in the game that made me fail a mission. It was simply myself getting too impatient. Now, GR 2... how is it that the always seem to make the mechanics that made the 1st game good, feel like complete dogwater dooky poopoo stuck on the side of the lid awful.
1. Parrying, a seemingly more and more common mechanic to see in games ( not a real fact, just personal speculation, or from my own experience) which can either be good, or atrocious to play with/ gimmicky or jank. The first game, though I haven't played it in a while, I recall having excellent parry mechanics in that for one, if u click the parry button trying to get perfect timing( which I personally do as most games with parry I play are tap a button or 2 and it instantly parries and will parry an attack within the X amount of frames the game gives u. This game though, though I'm not far in yet, just feels unresponsive and delayed occasionally. I do intend to get further, and ideally beat this game, but so far, just the combat mechanics seem less fleshed out compared to GR1.
2. The combat as stated by others, is not really anything new, very few new enemies, etc. having fought the first actual boss...It's not looking to bright imo. Attacks that I know for certain I shoulda blocked or parried via literally seeing my character pull the sword up into the block animation, only to still get hit and killed.
Getting killed by an attack you can at least see, and understand, albeit annoying, is what I want from combat in such a game as this and GR1(which mostly succeeded), instead I get killed randomly, even if I appear to be blocking. Now, I will admit that there maybe is just a different play style than in the first game, but judging on the limited reviews I read, consensus seems to be that this game sucks.
TLDR: Sequels always remove what was fun in the first game, so just stick to one and done.

Overall, it's a really fun game, albeit a little rough in the earlier stages, although I feel that you just end up cheesing most of the harder to kill enemy's with either the bow and just kiting them, or by getting them stuck by a ledge where you can duck under the attack, I tend to forget about the blocking feature, so I can't really say how broken it was, but overall, the game itself is quite fun. I do hope on their next update, they put a bit more story into the game, but I find it to be a con that's not too serious

Mods are fun, base game is pretty fun too, but mods are a definite boost.

Beautiful music, beautiful design, wonderful gameplay. It's great playing the sequel to Ori and experiencing the joy I felt playing the first game. Even if I seem to be pretty good at getting out of the map, or stuck in a wall. My only real complaint is with one of the abilities seeming a little bit buggy, but not usually to a noticeable degree. I highly recommend picking this one up. It's a great game, and very well-made in all accounts imo. The new combat system is also really cool as well. Thanks again Moon Studios for a great game ^w^
