Once upon a time, a scorpion wanted to cross a river. Being unable to swim, the scorpion asked a frog for help. The frog, naturally cautious, was hesitant.

"How do I know you won't sting me?" asked the frog.

"Because if I sting you, we'll both drown," replied the scorpion.

The frog thought this made sense and agreed to carry the scorpion across the river. The scorpion climbed onto the frog's back, and they began their journey. Midway across the river, the scorpion suddenly stung the frog.

As the frog felt the poison taking effect and they both started to sink, the frog cried out, "Why did you sting me? Now we will both die!"

The scorpion simply replied, "It's in my nature."

And so, both the scorpion and the frog drowned.
