A fun little game with creative puzzles that neither bored me with a lack of new elements nor overwhelmed me with mechanics. The story is... a little cliche, but enjoyable nonetheless, and I do kinda like how the CEO berates you when you take awhile on the puzzles.
Not a huge fan of the epilogue, because the dude's *clearly* full of it yet his point of view is passed off as credible, but aside from that it's a great game.

It's very pretty, but wow is it poorly optimized. It feels incredibly sluggish and slow, which doesn't give me much reason to keep trying to learn it. The videos look nice, but actually playing it is a confusing chore.

it's fun, a nice horror/mystery game without many if any jumpscares. The split ending thing is pretty cool. My favorite is the Escape ending for obvious reasons.

I mean ♥♥♥♥ dude it's free and pretty fun so long as you don't take it super seriously
Or, like, if you do that's cool too man. I've heard comp is rad, I'm just not good enough for it lmao.

Solid RPG, decent humor. Pleasantly challenging even for minibosses and some optional normal fights, though that may be because I'm playing on Epic difficulty. Volume's a bit high, but perfectly adjustable - I never went over 25% in the settings. I do miss EBF5's ability to control with mouse AND keyboard at once, but it's not hard to change. And since it can be 100% mouse controlled, this is excellent for use with Steam Link.
The biggest drawback is that I get a lot of slowdown/stutter and an eventual crash if I play in Windowed Mode for a couple hours. Works just fine in Fullscreen.

Definitely recommend, though the sequel is certainly better.

Note: I got this game for free by installing Out There Somewhere, which actually features fun, interesting, and challenging mechanics. Also, I haven't played the co-op stuff yet, but I'm doubtful it's much better than singleplayer.

The Good
  • pretty good background music
  • unique core concept (I've only seen color-swap used in 2D)
  • people could make some very interesting user-made levels if user-made levels were a thing

The Bad
  • The learning curve is shallower than a stereotypical blonde. In each main level, the game seems to try to teach you about a gimmick that's specific to the level. One might expect that the level would then have you apply that new knowledge in a more challenging or puzzling room, but... that never happens. The level ends before that.
Now, to the game's credit, the bonus rooms are slightly more challenging, although that's like saying getting struck by lightning is slightly less lethal than a guillotine.
  • The game never seems to make up its mind whether it wants to be puzzle-focused or platforming-focused. In some levels, no dexterity at all is required - just figure out when to put which cubes where put the only available cube in the only available switch. In others, however, cubes hardly do anything, and you need to pay more attention to what color you are so you don't fall through the floor. But, it never focuses on developing either, so it's just kind of plain all-around.
  • In some of the levels, it's possible to easily get stuck in a situation that demands you reset the level, losing any progress you might have made, rather than respawning at a checkpoint. Fortunately, the levels can all be beaten in about 2 minutes, so you don't miss out on too much.
  • The physics engine can be pretty weird when dealing with the color cubes, and with moving platforms. Cubes sometimes get stuck in walls, and a few times got stuck in a spawner, only becoming dislodged when I rapidly clicked in its general direction and it popped out of a separate wall entirely. Cubes do not seem to interact with moving platforms.
  • A strange amount of emphasis is placed on throwing accuracy. Polarity compares itself to Portal, which does not have this odd and rather inconsistent mechanic because portal shots travel in straight lines, whereas Polarity's cubes drop off at a rate never quite what you expect.
  • A couple of the gimmicks are never explained. In the level that introduces color-changing fields, nothing draws you to the unassuming small gap that looks a bit like a wall. Additionally, you have no way of knowing other than sheer luck that the launchers affect cubes as well - no previous level required or used that information.
  • In each level, there are 3 green thingies you can collect, for a total of 60 across normal and bonus levels. Of these, two, maybe three require any amount of thought to find them - almost all are either hidden in an unremarkable, useless cove 10 seconds from anything else, or directly in your line of sight. They're not challenges so much as they are errands.
  • GET READY TO HOLD DOWN SHIFT! The player walking speed makes a tortoise look like Speedy Gonzales, and without a toggle, your finger's going to be on that Run button for the entire game.
  • Polarity just feels... unfinished. Like someone had a couple of ideas for a game and accidentally published basic testing levels as the full thing. The story doesn't really have much connection to the gameplay... or relevance to anything at all.

TL;DR I sure am glad I got this game for free by playing one that's better in every way, because I wouldn't pay $0.99 for this, let alone ten bucks.

There's nobody playing, the control and objectives are obtuse as all hell, it takes nearly half an hour to find a team, let alone a game...

-2/10 would never play, even for money. I wish Valve would make the Triclops TF2 item tradable.

Without a doubt the best modern spy game I've heard of. I'm not a fan of wordiness, so here's the basic rundown, pluses and minuses and stuff.
+ brilliant stealth system. People notice gunshots (but not silenced ones), dead bodies, themselves being shot... loads of stuff
+ skill customization is wonderful. By end-game of my stealth build I could walk into a room invisible, kill 5 people and walk out without anyone seeing me. Leeroy Jenkins run: kick in the door, empty the clip, everyone's dead before the alarm's raised.
+ boss fights were pretty good. They all had features to make them unique, and it was fun to fight all of them except non-spiked Brayko
+ dossiers were super useful, both as flavor-text and in-game. I loved pausing before the end to read all the stuff I'd learned about everyone
+ cutscenes were well-done. Most were skippable (BRILLIANT) and I loved Mike's various responses to things
+ special mention for letting me Punch Marburg as a dialog option
+ also: "refuse" "kiss my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ off" is the best set of options I've ever encountered.
+ There were so many things I could do. The devs coded in a lot of secrets and stuff
- dialog choices could've been more descriptive. I wasn't expecting Mike to insult someone when I pressed Suave.
- I wish Sis got more involvement in the game
- there were an unfortunate amount of glitches, such as Mike trying to hold an Assault Rifle like an SMG, or slowly creeping up a wall
* Positive or negative: the Chain Shot's final upgrade is incredibly overpowered. This would be completely negative, but it allowed me to destroy forced aggro fights (bosses) and continue on my merry, crouch-walking way.
* Some of the glitches were hilarious. I managed to stick a guard through a wall, and he wouldn't stop vibrating.
* Security minigames. I loved the Digital Keypad, was neutral on the Lockpicking, and despised Hacking, because of mouse sensitivity.
* The characters could emote really well! ...could be a little higher-rez, but it was originally for consoles, so whatever.

Overall, wonderful game! I'd easily give this a 9/10 on a standard scale, and wish there was a sequel in the making.
