In my personal experience, playing Rust without cheating or being part of a large 5-10 player team can be quite challenging due to the prevalence of cheaters. On the server that I currently play on, I have encountered 5-10 cheaters who use unfair advantages, such as killing me with a prototype 17 from 400 meters away through trees. This strongly suggests that their actions were not based on skill alone. To avoid cheaters, players must search for specific servers that do not allow for large teams, reducing the player base and the chances of encountering cheaters. Unfortunately, cheaters can easily return to the game by purchasing Rust accounts for as little as 4-10 euros/dollars, ruining the game experience for others. To address this issue, Rust needs to have better anti-cheat software and catch-up mechanics for players who do not play in large teams. Designated servers for large teams would be helpful to give other players a fair chance of enjoying the game. At present, finding enjoyment in Rust is rare unless you play in specific ways such as joining a large team. Therefore, I cannot recommend Rust to others. Moreover, from my experience, acquiring 10,000 scrap as a solo player is much harder than it is for a large group that controls a monument. To address this imbalance, I suggest reducing the cost of research for solo-quad teams or introducing a mechanic that lowers research costs based on the number of players who have already learned the blueprints. This would make the game more enjoyable for everyone and give solo players a better chance to catch up with larger groups. In addition to the previously mentioned issues, Rust lacks a proper matchmaking rating (MMR) system, which puts beginners at a disadvantage. Softcore servers are not a solution either, as experienced zergs with over 2,000 hours of playtime can still join these servers and annihilate new players, ruining their experience. To make Rust more enjoyable for everyone, it is necessary to implement an MMR system that matches players based on their skill level. This would allow new players to compete against others at a similar level and enjoy the game without feeling overwhelmed or disadvantaged. In addition, it would be helpful to have designated servers for players with lower MMRs, giving them a chance to learn and improve their skills without facing more experienced players.Overall, addressing the issues of cheating, large teams, and MMR imbalance would make Rust a more enjoyable and fair game for all players, regardless of their experience level or playstyle.
