Absolutely phenomenal game and one of the best I have ever played. The story in this game is probably the best I have ever witnessed in video game history and deserves more praise than I as a single person could ever possibly deliver. My only recommendation is to go in completely blind and experience it for yourself.

As for the actual gameplay, it's both loved and hated. Personally, I thoroughly enjoy the gameplay and find myself constantly coming back to play multiplayer and the co-op missions just because I enjoy the feel of this game and the world it has built. However, many people do think that the gameplay is underwhelming and the only redeeming factor is the story. I disagree, but that's just my own opinion on the playstyles it provides.

The combat can only be described as a third person over the shoulder military shooter. Very akin to the Gears of War series (which I happen to be a longtime fan of). If that's not your style however, I would still get this game if you're looking for a powerful story that focuses on moral dilemma and the cruelties of war in this action packed roller coaster of emotion and confusion.
