I started playing this game around midnight; I blinked and it was 7 o'click! For being only $5, I'd say I definitely got my money's worth.

I received this as a gift from one of my best friends a while ago and just got around to it. I cannot, in all good conscience, recommend this game, as it crashes consistently at the start of test area 01. As soon as I round the corner from the elevator, the game freezes and the audio loops. I've done what little I could in-game to fix it (changed the resolution, disallowed the Steam overlay, and put it into windowed mode) to no avail. I find it laughable that a game which ran smoothly on the last generation of consoles would succumb to a modern PC, but I suppose that's the way it goes, right? It's a pity, since the graphics are much more polished here than they ever were there.

I'm enjoying the story so far. Secret areas are challenging without being too annoying. Jumping is slightly floatier than I would like, but that's a small nitpick. Overall, it's a nice little shmup with an endearing art style; highly recommended for those who love platform shooters. If you enjoy this and aren't aware, they made another game called Kero Blaster, which I also enjoyed and is in the same vein as Cave Story.
