it seems Sony doubled back down and just made this game unable to be purchased in other countries. Who knows when they will decide to ring back mandatory PSN-linkage again.

Sony walked back their decision to link PSN mandatory. so all is good again.

Update
Sony abruptly reversed course and determined that in order for anyone to play Helldivers 2 before June 4th, they needed to connect and have a PSN account. Therefore, even if you've never owned a Playstation and have no plans to acquire one, you must make one and link it to your Steam account if you don't already have one.

I really liked the game, but this is needless and absurd. At the very least, just prevent cross-play for those of us Steam users without PSN accounts.

+ crazy 3rd person shooter fun
+ friendly fire with friends is Friendly indeed.

- PSN connection required
- game crashing bugs has been existent and occurring since launch
- Crashes to desktop often
