This is almost a good game, there's just one too many bad design choices that makes it fall short.

The controls and camera are so badly designed that it's unplayable.

This is more of a neutral review. There is an enjoyable game underneath the jank, but there's so much jank. SR is one of the worse optimised games I've ever played and definitely has the worse texture pop. It fundamentally fails as a soulslike because it's too janky to be precise with.

The best way to play the game is to turn off the souslike aspects in the options and play it as an action game. The mechanics don't add anything to the game except artificially inflate its runtime. Spiders would have done better to spend more time playtesting it instead.

That said, the design of aegis and the weapons have a gorgeous aesthetic, and hitting things with the flame chain is a fun time.

Sadly unplayable with my GPU. Hopefully this will get fixed.

A sweet "metroidvania-light" game that is mostly light and breezy to play, with one unfortunate difficulty spike. Whoever decided to design that unforgiving lava escape sequence with ZERO CHECKPOINTS needs to take a nap, but it is at almost the very end of the game.

The cutest way to spend a couple of hours.

Absolutely charming. A short game about exploring the world and helping people by taking photos. It definitely deserved its BAFTA win!
