The more I play, the less enjoyable the game is. Maybe if I had more fun playing the stat-check, roll-face-on-keyboard characters that dominate the normal people tiers of the game, this game would be more than an exercise in frustration. I can't recall my last game with a top 3/5 that wasn't populated by characters that win by running at you/hitting a single gap closer then smashing their wombo-combo or ridiculously powerful auto-attacks. Maybe if they almost all couldn't easily tank multiple rotations while running through slows or root traps like they are nothing with their ridiculous MS and gap-closers. Join the face smashing or get out of the way.

And that's assuming you make it past the early game. Purple level weapons are so absurdly powerful vis-a-vis other item slots that first-person to purple weapon in the vicinity can quickly destroy most any character who also hasn't finished a weapon. Even if you survive a stat-check early encounter, the game rewards kills over survival, so prepare to fall further behind when the blood in the water draws sharks looking for an easy kill.

Bad luck finding a key component for your weapon? Have fun "ratting" for the remainder of the game as you avoiding unwinnable combats puts you further and further behind.

That's not to say there isn't a lot of skill at the higher levels, where a subset of ranged characters are consistently exceptional when played near optimally. For the average player, placing well feels more dependent on snowballing with early game luck than relying on any significant measure of skill.
