As September closed the giant iron door behind him, an ancient library was revealed. Walls were pinned by silky, flowing red banners, painted with gold patterns that intricately decorate the edges. The windows climb the wall in a desperate attempt to slip over the edge only to be contained by their rectangular, rich mahogany frame. Whoever lives here must’ve been famous… or just very rich.

The surface of the building is constructed from dark oak delicately covered with wool carpet reflecting the banner’s personality. Unfortunately, this expensive blanket has been bombarded with blotches of battered novels that compete with the windows quest to escape its crumbling container (these books look like an ogre tried to bowl over a peasant’s miserable excuse for a house by repeatedly clobbering the wall at full force).

Every wall is either covered in forgotten bookshelves or paintings and mirrors held up only by what could be described as ‘blocks’ of darkness. The owner of this establishment seems obsessed with large beasts; most of which are manticores, griffins or the lessor known Chimera. Why do they all have lion body parts?
September is an effeminate male with a dainty figure, they have medium, coral rose hair and their distinguishing attire is a dark green cloak. I’m here because of the letter I received in the mail.

Dear September
Please visit me at the Abandoned Ancient Library,
I have some important things to discuss with you.
P.S. bring some sweets, the Clam gets annoyed if guests don’t be polite.

The part about the Clam still bothers September, it doesn’t make sense really. Nonetheless, he still visited the local markets to pick up some homemade cookies. Just as September reached for the packet, he noticed a small creature had torn apart the packaging and was hopelessly attempting to lift the baked good out of its prison. September didn’t hesitate and swiftly captured the creature in his grasp, it felt wooden. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was an acorn with stubby arms, legs and their stem had a firefly light glowing dimly.

“What are you some sort of voodoo doll? A spirit?” September asked.
This ‘thing’ ignored him and continued squirming helplessly in his tight grip. Realizing this isn’t going anywhere, he put it down to watch it bounce along into a hole in the wall, revealing a hollow log. How odd, there’s more than one in there. Pressing his eye against the hole, he could see that these “logs” followed the structure of the building, suggesting that they weren’t there by chance. Before September could continue walking, a collect of those ‘Acorn things’ struck him with intense beams of light causing a chain reaction of broken pots and the birth of dust clouds.
“The Bas- *Cough* *Cough* The Bastard’s got all my clothes dirty.” He complained. “I guess it is my fault though, I *Cough* was disturbing their nest.” After readjusting his cloak, he continued to close the gap between him and the double iron doors that read ‘Father Nature’. Why is everything here so…strange? Or maybe, out of place?

As September was about to lift their hand to knock against the slab of heavy metal, a light, soothing voice requested “please darling, don’t touch the door. I’d hate to see an injury occur.”
“What do you mean?” September, curious now.
The voice is slightly irritated now. “You don’t want to set off a chain of events now do you...just let me get the door okay?”

Without hearing a sound, September watched as the door melted into wood and began separating into logs, then branches and finally twigs which seemed to just slither away into the doorframe. This process began revealing what could be described as an unrefined version of a wooden female. Their hair made of branches, covered in cherry blossoms.
Looking around now, the entire surface of the room is made of unrefined wood, like multiple trees have grown together and have built a perfect enclosure. The walls and ceiling have rabbit holes spread around the surface, weird acorn creatures are scurrying in and out, carrying random household objects.

“Why, hello darling” ‘father nature’ greeted casually. “I’m Mother Nature” Maybe not then, I guess father nature isn’t home. “Quickly, throw up the sweet thing you brought” she shrieked.
Remembering the letter, September reached for the bag and threw a cookie at Mother Nature. Before the sweet reached her grasp a giant tongue from the ceiling, almost Chameleon like, seized the opportunity and whipped its tongue in and out, causing the cookie to disappear instantly.
“Now, now August. Your time is up, you know that. Be a good boy this time or you won’t get another one” lectured Mother. The clam closed up refusing to listen. Apologetically she explained “Please ignore him September, they’re being ridiculous this year”
“Um, why is there a giant clam on the ceiling?” he asked.
“He chose to be that way, clams are really good at filtering out good and bad food” she replied.
This really doesn’t make any sense, I’m in a room with THE Mother Nature. “So…what did you want to talk to me about?” September queried.

“First, let’s set up the tea” she proclaimed. “August, push the button.”
August’s Tongue slapped in a wooden button. The room suddenly closed all the holes in the walls with flaps except for four holes in front of Mother Nature on the floor. A blast of air shot two teacups and two spoons out of each narrow opening. Instead of them hitting the ceiling and shattering, they stopped midway as if an invisible wall was blocking the way.
“Zero Gravity has been activated” explained mother. “You can turn gravity on and off just by thinking about it, feel free to practise and get used to the new feeling.”
“Can I try and reach for a teacup and spoon?” he expressed, feeling uneasy.
“Only if you ask them politely. The ones closest to you are called Blossom and Flower, I’ve got October and November.”

Floating up now, September was surprised that it felt like he was a hot air balloon which he was in control of. Approaching the dinnerware, September asked politely “Blossom, Flower, can I please borrow your services while I talk to Mother?” Both objects looks at each other, then looked at him. They nodded and snuggled perfectly into his hands. September, unable to let go of them, was being forced to move around the room. The spoon was automatically shovelling his favourite tea leaves and sugar into the cup while it was filling from the base with water and milk.
After the ordeal finished they returned September in front of Mother Nature, facing her. The spoon named Flower released itself and returned to whence it came. “I wanted to ask” September voiced, out of breath “Where is Father Nature?”
Mother Nature narrowed her smooth wooden eyes but then quickly relaxed them. “I was Father Nature"
