Its a MMORPG that enables you to play at your own pace and experience content without overwhelmingly grind gear checks.
Once you progressed and got the top level gear (which isn't hard, takes a month probably), the gear never loses relevance ever for future content.
Example: I left the game 5 years ago, came back after 5 years and the gear is still top level. Some builds had to be tweaked for modern meta, but that's normal and easily learnable.
Progression is horizontal in that you unlock cosmetics, new skins for your weapons and clothing, not ever increasing stat grind.

Oh and the gameplay mechanics are fun and responsive.
Graphical effects are cluttered and dated however and not every visual effect can be seen properly.
Game is also highly CPU dependent and could use an optimisation pass.

Overall, still a great game by MMO standards, because its not grindy and the gameplay is actually fun and story content and map exploration is great.
