Holy unannounced surprise release Batman! I don't think I've ever bought a game so fast after seeing it's name for the first time. If you liked West of Loathing, you can be rest assured you'll also enjoy Shadows Over Loathing. The same sense of humour is there and the gameplay elements you grew to enjoy are still there with just the right amount of tweaks to keep it fresh without losing it's tried and true identity. Worth every penny.

Having played the game during it's horrendous launch, Cyberpunk 2077 seems to have gained at least somewhat of a happy ending for itself. It still has it's share of jank and minor nuisances, but nothing deal-breaking anymore. As it is, the game is very fun and enthralling, although obviously far from what the pre-hype would've led one to believe. So if you can put all the pre-launch hype behind you, or better yet missed it all, I'm sure you can wholeheartedly enjoy the world of Cyberpunk.

My first playthrough took me 8 hours (as seen on gametime at time of review) and it was an enthralling 8 hours at that. It was hard to put down and had me wondering what twists and turns awaited me along every decision. A great political drama experience for sure.

You'd think that losing hours of progress with a character due to an unnecessary aggressive move ending in being eaten by a horde of zombies would leave the player immoralized. Not so. Watch me start over and do it once again. And again. And again.

Call of Duty: WWII gets a "conditional" thumbs up from me. I feel it has gotten an unfairly bad rep in some circles. I mean, it's not fantastic, but the basic Call of Duty multiplayer gameplay loop is there, just as satisfying as ever, and the single player campaign is fine, doing what's expected of a CoD campaign. I have enjoyed my time with both. Zombies never was my thing in earlier titles and as such I'm skipping it here as well. I do have my fair share of gripes with the game, hence the "conditional" thumbs up, so here's what I'd keep in mind:

The loadout system has gotten more convoluted than it needs to be with different divisions having their own sets of unlockable cosmetics, perks working differently than before and everything from weapons to said divisions having their own XP bars to level up to unlock even more perks and advantages. The latter part feels especially unfair to those just starting in the game, since in addition to having weapons equipped with full attachments, those having played for longer essentially have several extra perks in their loadout with their fully leveled up divisions.

Oh, the cosmetics... I just wish there was some sort of a filter to hide anything that's still locked. Finding the new unlocks from your latest supply drop opening spree is a chore, and even that is putting it lightly.

At this point in time, WWII is definitely not worth the full price, honestly not even half-price. But if there ever is an even better deal on the game somewhere and you like CoD campaigns, I'd grab it. The multiplayer suite also seems to have a rather loyal playerbase to it, so you shouldn't have too many problems finding games to join.

The more time goes on, the more certain I am of the fact that Team Fortress 2 is the best multiplayer experience I've ever had.

Never before and never since have I enjoyed a class-based first-person shooter as much as I have enjoyed Team Fortress 2. Perhaps the choice in graphical direction also helped with the fact that I never took the game too seriously, unlike games like Counter-Strike or Call of Duty, instead just enjoying my time playing it. The game still holds up today, although the sheer amount of different loadout options is getting a wee bit much to keep track of.

As far as free-to-play multiplayer games goes, you can't go wrong with downloading Team Fortress 2.

Let's get the disclaimer out of the way: I'm a huge hockey fan. As such, Super Blood Hockey already has a major plus on it's side since it's giving me a hockey experience on PC. I also haven't really touched the Franchise Mode yet, and as such, it's all considered a plus since I already like this game and still have more to experience.

What really sells the game for me is the fact that proper couch co-op games are a dime in a dozen these days. When you have a couple of controllers and a friend over for a couple of drinks, games that you can just jump in for a couple of quick rounds are worth their figurative weight in gold. That's what Super Blood Hockey shines in. It's quick and simple to learn and everything it does stylistically serves it's role as a casual pick-me-up game well.

Whole-heartedly recommended.

As far as I'm concerned, this is where Call of Duty peaked as a series. Infinity Ward took what worked in the original Modern Warfare and gave it a few touch-ups, granted some of them not as welcome as others (*cough* deathstreaks *cough*), but mostly stuck to the formula that was working.

Past aside, Modern Warfare 2 is still a worthwhile purchase even today, especially from a deal, if you are a fan of the Call of Duty gameplay loop. The singleplayer campaign and Spec Ops missions are good in their own right, and the multiplayer suite still has it's loyal playerbase. There are also mods available that add server browsers with their own dedicated playerbases.

At a little under 200 hours under my belt, I think the term "love-hate relationship" is spot-on when it comes to my feelings about Fallout 4. If there was a thumbs-in-the-middle button, this is the definition of that game.

Fallout 4 is hardly a role-playing game. I don't really feel like choices I make have that much of an impact on the world around me, nor my own story. Different factions in the main story feel like a cosmetic change at their best and redundant at their worst. The story just.. let's just say it doesn't hold up. There's nothing I can say about it that hasn't already been explored by several YouTube video essays.

Mechanically, barring the usual Bethesda jank, the game still feels satisfying to play. The base building works well enough, the world is cool enough to explore and the gunplay is more satisfying than in earlier entries. If something doesn't work to your expectations, there's probably a mod that fixes it for you. That's what ticks it over to the thumbs-up side for me: giving up on wanting a roleplaying experience and accepting that what we got was an action-adventure. Plus going for the Survival mode, so that decisions made about exploring and during combat actually felt like they had weight to them.

So all in all, if you're still trying to figure out whether to go for Fallout 4 or not, just pull the trigger and go for it. Don't expect a great roleplaying experience out of it, but let the game's strengths speak for themselves.

This game is definitely not suited for players looking for casual shooting fun. Movement is slow, squad tactics are essential to your survival and stalemate games can easily go on for a full 90 minutes of the teams taking turns running at each other's garrisons and bashing their heads against a barrage of fire.

That said, moving over from Rising Storm 2: Vietnam since my go-to community there closed their servers and focused more on this game (shout out to FLL.fi), I already had a head-start. A good 10 hours in, I know the server where I can jump in and expect basic communication and teamplay from others as well. That's where this game truly shines. When that well-orchestrated push from several different squads hits the enemy just right via the commander's directions and you get to be an integral part of that.. it just feels so damn good.

There's definitely still jank involved. As long as updates keep polishing the game forward and the developers stick to what makes the game different from other's on the market, we have a winning formula on our hands.
