I'm reviewing this as an original vet of the Battlefield series.
Bought this at launch in 2018 and the game was terrible, refunded it.
Giving it another shot in 2022, the game is still terrible after all these years.

The first thing myself and my fiancée try to do is party up, it took so long just to get the invite, we couldn't tell if it was even working or if it just lagging, both our computers are side by side this should not happen, that there began our worry.

Doing a quick play, it loaded a TDM, in which it loaded her into the TDM and while I could see I was in the server list it didn't want to launch me into the game, it even gave up and put me into a another in which it was failing to suck me into the game, after 2 min her server reloaded and it sucked me into it, why it did this I have no idea but again terrible experience within just 3 min of opening this game.

It doesn't feel as good as say Battlefield, any of them from the past decade, even 2042 movement and gunplay feels much better (it's just everything else about 2042 that sucks). It's better than Crowz as that feels much more like PUBG which doesn't feel good especially in 3rd person view.

WW3 maybe it can be optimized for the movement to feel smooth like a Battlefield but currently it's not, even after all these years it's still not, which is a bad sign. Also a note in the TDM Shotguns are still overpowered, I expect to be 1 shot up close, but across the room 1 shot? Brings back nightmares from Bad Company 2 Shotguns killing across the map, I'm sure it's not that bad but I feel many will use these for that mid or close/mid range for 1 shots which is ridiculous...

We did 1 more quick play and it loaded us into a conquest type mode. First thing I tried to do is change my scope it said I had unlocked, and I have NO idea how to change the scope playing with their gun menu, if it's because it's a preset it should say so, after leaving that menu I had NO scope and didn't know how to add one back... Their Menu UI is terrible (not ugly, just terrible) and not friendly, WORSE than 2042 launch day, because while that was buggy and far more ugly, at least I could add in new scopes to my weapon.

Turning down the graphics just to see performance, you can really see how ugly the map was and built, this outdoor winter map is bad, I mean it looked like it was made in 2004 or something.

Their med system is terrible, if your going to try and copy things from Battlefield, do it properly. I don't want to look down and hold F for health putting myself at risk. Doesn't matter if I have 3 health left or 60 health left, the time to get to 100% is the same and instant.

No revive system is a huge downer, it's like they took feedback from CoD players or have the system in place to make the gameplay fast with high TTK to cater to them but if your going to have a teamplay system in place, DO IT RIGHT, don't do half razzle job, It's stupid having a friendly go down and having to wait off to the side for them to spawn in, that slows down your own gameplay of moving forward and yet the system you put in place has been done to make things fast that just makes no sense other than CoD players playing how they want and you have to spawn in and wait for them not to be shot at...

I'm an INF player and usually always a medic, so I cannot comment on the vehicle system.

We played for a total of 38min before giving up, she got a refund but sadly I cannot, it says I have 6 hours in play, I'm guessing it counted the few hours I did many years ago? But why didn't it count her hours given we played together during that time as well? We made sure to close the game while it downloaded, so that didn't add any extra time.

Long story short, if your a Battlefield fan and looking for something that you didn't get from 2042, this isn't the game for you. If you want to get teamplay and can get over block characters, check out BattleBit or simply go back to BFV which has aged like a fine wine.

In its current state I wouldn’t recommend this to any friends until bugs and community wants are addressed, bugs such as players not going down from shots all the time (hit detection bug) not being able to revive players close to a wall or object (and let’s be real many players are near them as cover in any fps game, far more mentioned by many players.

The potential is there in the game they just need to wake up, they need to set specs as classes (why do specialists all have different icons even if they are example support that makes no sense..) so if you want to be a medic you can be one of the 2-3 specialists. EA gets to keep their specialists to sell skins and players get to enjoy classes once again.

Over time if they listen to the community and apply the things we’d like such as the scoreboard (worst mistake ever) and the tons of other items that make battlefield the enjoyable teamwork series then this could be the best battlefield title, currently tho even Hardline is better and as a battlefield fan you know that’s a huge ouch…

Purchased this game long time ago, and haven't played too much as I know it's still pretty early access and they have a very small team, but honestly they seem very strong in providing the games we loved during those N64 days like Revenge and No Mercy, for me $10 is worth the buy in and support I don't mind waiting, I usually check back once in a blue moon and I can see the progress this game has made, so I'd say 2 years or less (unless they get more coders to speed things up) and then we'll have what we've all been waiting for.

It's a game that's taken the best aspects of Rust and DayZ and mixed them together - The building bases of Rust, with the survival aspect of DayZ. Game has great potential even if it is still in early stages. I had picked up many flashlights in game, then turned them up and threw them all over the ground lighting up a pile of junk loot I also had thrown on the ground and simply waited in the bushes. Not long after someone had come over and checked it out, you can see the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf8y208WklU

It's cheaper than DayZ and has more potential in the long run (dayZ is simply trying to force an engine to do what its not suppose to do, which is why the melee feels grose).

I made that review 25 Dec, 2014

Years later the game never turned out to be what the original vision was - a survival game based around survival aspects. Many basic features such as fishing, obtaining food from the environment and trying to live outside of towns is simply not there. The games identity is now that of heavy PVP and very little PVE, which tells me the coders they currently have cannot produce many great features that the community have asked for.

- Updates are very slow
- Many updates are completely pointless (they do not keep players interested)
- You can only rent from 1 server company and they are expensive
- A rotten apple gives you 3% food and no sickness, yet you use it to create a poison arrow..
- Story makes no sense (it's suppose to be the year 2080, yet the game looks like 90's)
- Devs refuse to reply or properly create a roadmap with it's player base unlike 3 years ago
- Floating Bases are a problem and have existed for a very long time.
- The melee weapon squeegee is as strong as the axe
- Boats in the game are completely useless since you can easily get shot in them / stolen.

I can go on and on, anyone still giving this good reviews are simply trying to keep this game on continued life support, even when they change the slots from 36 to 50 did not do enough to keep players around.

I would not recommend this game anymore. http://steamcharts.com/app/299740#All If you look at this chart, you can see the game is dying (no reason at all other than people are getting bored due to lack of content) so do not purchase into a dying game.

If you want to play a survival game that is actually not copying what others are doing, check out SCUM - http://node2.projectplanet.cn/@store.steampowered.com/app/513710/
