This is one of the hardest and yet most compelling games I've ever played. The weather is fickle and uncaring, the reviewers are brutal, the bonus/random tasks can make or break your winery, and I've never made enough money to upgrade my central house. And yet I keep picking it up.

The soundtrack is kind of annoying, though.

The core mechanics of this game are really cool, and it's an interesting resource management game, but the story is a massive cliche that takes forever to finish. It would be cool if there was a political manuevering aspect to the game, which would make your buildup of the department and interactions with certain criminals more meaningful.

I think the true cult in Cultist Simulator is the people who play it. Myself included. It's such a strange and compelling game despite the repetitive gameplay and your abstraction from the story as the player. There's so much lore that I almost wish there was another game to explain what's going on in this first game. Can I recommend it? Not really. Am I going to keep playing it? Of course. Is it worth your time? ...I can't really answer that.

I greatly enjoyed the game. Its only real flaws are that it's kind of short, and the map doesn't feel big and explorable, more like hallways that unlock at different parts of the story. The setting is gorgeous, though, and I would love to see more of these middle-of-the-wilderness type stories.

Definitely my favorite game of 2008!

In all seriousness, this is a fairly good game, complemented by the improved graphics and the settlement system. The trouble is, between Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Skyrim, I've played this game before a couple of times. It's just not enough of an improvement to recommend any more than half-heartedly.

A good RPG, but can get very tedious. Unlike something like Oblivion, where you have free reign to do whatever you want, Dragon Age Origins is quite linear, so the 50+ hours you put into completing the game will feel like 50+ hours. It's certainly worth a play if you've never touched it, but despite its multiple origin stories it's not really worth another playthrough.
