I hated the agressive, buzzwordy marketing campaign they did with it, but I couldn't let myself sleep hating a game without trying it myself, and hey, prologue is free.

Overall, I'd say I enjoyed myself. Got a few minor nitpicks, but I cleared the game once, at least as far as they let you go. It's going to get repetitive, and I think I basically played in the two styles you'll get out of the free, or full, game, ''Moral damage' and 'Health damage'. With the former being the one I did last and won with. Ideally, you'll want to get a mix of both, since defeating foes gets you resources based on which type you did, but despite everything, morale is so much easier unless you have your units in a position to deal a ton of damage. Being able to hit 75% of a unit's health in one hit accounted for all of my kills.

I still don't abide by the marketing campaign they used for it, tried way too hard to cash in on other games, and it's not enough like what they claim to deserve the mention.

Also annoying, not all of the achevements are obtainable. One is for finishing a year, and I played to the point where they forcibly end your run, even if you win. It's not a major flaw, but a flaw nevertheless, and first impressions are important.

Overall, the marketing scheme left a sour taste in my mouth, and while the gameplay redeems itself, and in fact is it's own thing compared to what they compare it to, the disparity sticks out. Dress for the success you want, I suppose. With some minor meta-flaws in the achevement system topping off the palate on a bad note. The gameplay you are allowed to experience IS good, though snowballing in either direction with the occasional check or event that can send it down the other path suddenly, it does well enough that despite what might feel like the creators sabotaging it, it shine with promise. If nothing else, try it while it's free.

Early Access Review
I'm enjoying the game! it's free, occasionally annoying when you lose due to no fault of your own, but I find it very relaxed, with little pressure, and almost no obligation!

That last bit's a bit of a pain in multiplayer, as it's very hard to get everyone in a game to stay in a game for the whole thing. But it also doesn't affect your game quality all too much!

Valve plz gib use of Dota 2 cosmetics in Underlord

I don't know what bothers me more.

The implication that Humans are pets in this world

Or the fact I've never seen them.

Monster Hunter World is a good Monster Hunter game. It's a good-enough first step into the PC platform, and content, even if it's catching up to the console, is rapid and consistant.

It may not be the flurry of new monsters people are used to
It may not have the wide and wacky variety of weapons and armour (Though we do have some!)
It may not even have the same lovable cast that many of us grew up with (Though I'm sure in a few years people will talk the same of handler as we do of our own)

But it is solid gameplay. More fluid, Gorgeous-looking, and has it's own premises it lays out and accoplishes. For the first PC entry, the Multiplayer is one of the best so far. While in previous games, you found a lobby, (of max, 4 people) and entered on a mission, now you can find a lobby, (of upto 16 people!) And find either people doing what you want, OR, and this is the huge improvement now, you can head into your mission and fire off an SOS flare, allowing anyone, anywhere, to hop on in and help you out. No need to finagle with lobbies. You still can't replace people who drop out mid-match, but hey. It's progress, and very welcome progress indeed.

The major complaints people have about the game tend to be about the things it doesn't have. The variety of monsters, the lack of a larger variety of equiptment (Partly in cause due to the limited number of monsters) the 'few' locals (I do wish there was an ice biome) and the, ah... 'Simplicity' of the weapon designs we currently have. Some also balk at the combining of gunner and blademaster sets into armour everyone can wear, but no-one really complaines. We all know it was needed to survive in the new world.

I don't see these as a problem. I see World as a solution. While I whole-heartedly agree, it sucks to not have my favourite monsters in World, and in all likelyhood, will never seen them in World. MH:W provides it's own stomping grounds which prove perfect for the PC-only crowd to get their first taste of the game without being buried by features they can't understand, and have long-since been accepted as 'the norm' by the console crowd. The weapons take on their own style, of small, modular upgrades, and because of that, World also allows you the freedom to rescind said upgrades, to focus your efforts elsewhere.

This game is a solid 8.5/10. The game has it's flaws, but it's actively supported, and most the things I find wrong with it, that I so dearly wish to see, are only problems because I've loved and followed the series for most my life. I will never get to swim in the new world, and I've come to accept that. But there's still a chance to see my favourite beasts in the glorious World HD.

Metal gear Survive is to the Metal gear series as Pokemon Pinball was to the pokemon series

Survive may not be your typical metal gear game, but then, it doesn't claim to be. That's why it's called Metal Gear Survive, not Metal Gear Solid Survive
You can see a similar trend in Metal gear Rising:Revengance. (I know it was intended to be called Metal gear Solid:Rising, but the name was changed to be more fitting in the end, after all!)
Much like how pokemon pinball has pokemon in it, and you catch, level up, and evolve them, all the makings of a pokemon game,
you wouldn't call it a pokemon game in the same way you would call pokemon emerald a pokemon game.

In the same way, Metal Gear Survive has stealth, infiltration, and what for some might be a satisfying story (more on that later), It is not fair to call it a main game in the Metal Gear series.
Is it a good Metal Gear game? From the playtime i've experienced, (Both my own, and that of footage i've watched.) I'd say it is. It might not be what people would call a good Metal Gear SOLID game,
but it uses the metal gear universe well, established history, iconic figures, and so forth.

The controls however? It's like two diffrent teams made them.
The ones for controlling your character are decent. Some things could stand to be improved, but I couldn't tell you how, so hey, I guess it's good enough

Food and water drain a little faster then i'd feel comfortable with (our guy must have one HELLUVA metabolism) but it puts the pressure on to _SURVIVE_

Menus, though? Dear god the menus.
For instance, the base building? To move the cursor around, you need to hold down control while you move the mouse. Just moving the mouse around itself ROTATES the camera.

and the options are horrible.
Dear god are the options horrible.
Under 'sound' the only toggleable setting, indeed, the only setting AT ALL is if you want to have automatic voice chat or not.

And it's 'Valid' or 'Invalid' as the options.

The menus need work.

Luckily, it doesn't detract from what I've enjoyed as a pretty solid game. I'm gonna be playing the hell outta it. The story seems decent enough so far, though I will say it's a DAMN good thing this isn't a Solid game, or I'd laugh at them.

I really like Icey.

But I really wanna play KOI

(The best I could tell you about this game is it's Dust, an Elysain trail, meets The stanly parable. Taking the combat from the former, and the narrator from the latter, but without the smooth voice, and one that's less... accepting of your straying frm his path. At least, as far as I've gotten.)

(EDIT: Playing more into the game, I feel like it lacks the same charm Stanly parable had. There is no meaning in your choices. The Narrator refuses to let you have any meaning. You are here to play his game, and he is there to make you laugh at his reactions to you going about the proverbial roundabout. It is still a good game, but the story itself, even reading into all the side-lore I could find, lacks something that makes it feel fufilling. Still, worth the low price, short as I found it.)

This game is everything I ever wanted from it, and more. It has been in development for a long time, and for a long time I knew this was the game for me. I hope you find that it's the game for you, too.

Heat Signature is like easier Hotline Miami in space, but it's also so very much more then that.
