Doom Eternal has perhaps singlehandledly dethroned whatever previous pile of junk was sitting in my personal #1 spot by quite summarily making itself known to the rest of the gaming industry, showing other developers that it is possible to simply do better, just as it did for me when I was playing it.

It's a masterpiece. Each aspect of the gameplay is carefully thought out and executed with perfect precision in order to enable the player to feel pressured, but never truly threatened by the seemingly unending horde of demons and, eventually, angels. Some have criticized the intensive resource management aspect, owing to a vastly reduced ammo pool compared to the previous installment in the series, but I would earnestly argue that these people simply don't get it. If you came here to DOOM Eternal looking for a power-trip god-mode fantasy, look elsewhere. This game will test all that you've learned in previous FPS titles, and if you refuse to improve, it will seem more like a death march than the waltz it's supposed to be.

On the bright side, when you go back to those other games, you're going to feel like a deity among men. This game has wholly and truly lived up to the hype for me, and I can easily score it as a 10/10. It is my ♥♥♥♥.

Not everyone will understand Pyre.

And that's okay. For better or for the worse, Pyre seems to be cast as the black sheep of Supergiant Games' releases, and not for totally unfounded reasons, either. When you pit Pyre against its more straightforward hack-and-slash cousins such as Transistor, Bastion, and Hades, Pyre's indirect 3v3 'football' type gameplay can seem downright alienating. However, if you're willing to give it a chance and truly engage with the world that Supergiant has crafted, you will no doubt find what is easily their most human, emotional, character-driven title yet.

The amount of detail in this game is astonishing. Everything about Pyre's worldbuilding, narrative, score, and art direction far exceeds that of any other game they've published to date, and serves as a real treat for anyone even half-interested in a story that's worth experiencing.

Unique, powerful, and one-of-a-kind, I can easily rate Pyre as a 10/10. Fans of Supergiant, please do not pass this up.

You can't really complain about more content being added to a game--and for such a low price-point, too.

Battleborn was probably one of the most groundbreaking games I had ever played in 2016, but here we are, 5 years later, and it's nothing but a dried up husk that's withered away, far too weak to support itself anymore.

As of writing this review, Battleborn's servers have gone *permanently offline*, meaning that even if you wanted this game for its singleplayer campaign missions and operations . . . those are gone. Always-online DRM means that they, too, were tied to Gearbox's network, and now that the plug has been pulled, they're lost to time. With that in mind, I can't in good conscience recommend people a game that they can't *actually play.*

Gonna miss you, Battleborn.

P.S.

Gearbox's board of directors, please fire Randy Pitchford.
