la-mulana is an incredible and intricate labour of love and the best game i've played in ages. i'm very fresh off the back of finishing my first playthrough (there will be lots more) and i can't possibly gush about it enough.

the biggest thing about the game that'll either sell or dissuade you entirely is the fact that it's rather hard. it's vaguely "metroidvania", so it's got mechanical difficulty, but it's also the only game i've played in a very long time where i've had to take notes and have been genuinely unsure what i'm doing. there are parts of the game where i was wandering around the ruins of la-mulana completely lost and frustrated. but in a really satisfying way. it's so satisfying to solve a big confusing puzzle in la-mulana. even if the puzzle is "well....where do i go next?"

if you're just starting game and you don't know what you're doing, watch the "Beginner's Guide to La-Mulana" video either on here or on youtube and it'll give you an idea of what you're getting yourself into and teach you some incredibly important mechanics that you might find stumbling blocks early on. other than that, get in there and start poking around like a real archaeologist!!
