In 2004 there wasn't much on the Internet that was even 10 years old. Having a web account that was decades old seemed impossible, everything seemed so transient.

Although problem is now, a lot of decisions made 20-30 years ago with the Internet create huge problems today. A lot of it revolving around account recovery, good luck remembering old emails and CD keys. Keep that account secure or else.
