I just finished the DLC. Yes it has its flaws, however most are addressed in the most recent Aug 14 balance patch, mainly the durability of the mining blocks being brought down to reasonable levels, enemy HP reduced and fixing the chemical weapon to actually be useable.

I really hope for more, I cant get enough of this gameplay loop and actually interested plot you guys have weaved. Looking forward to more Wall World DLC or sequel!

It was worth the playthrough, but had I bought this on release or for anything more than 3 euros I would feel scammed.

Its by all means a bearable game, passable graphics, enjoyable voice acting, cool animations, simplistic combat, the climbing while everything around you falls apart is really this games best quality, but the story unfortunately is its worst.

Thumbs down only because the story is so poorly told after the first couple chapters that it leaves you scratching your head wondering how someone read the script and gave it the go ahead - whats especially ridiculous is the fact that the devs were expecting this to sell well enough to make a sequel a brainless choice, which obviously didnt happen, and for good reason. It is painfully obvious that they ran out of budget, time, or both, but had to release *something*.

TLDR: Almost everything about it is mediocre, and the story will disappoint you if you are expecting anything more than an excuse for stuff to happen.

it feels polished and promising at first, but you quickly realize there is nothing more to see after an hour or two, both in gameplay, progression and story
also the inventory needs so much management it quickly drains you, get on sale or not at all, preferably the latter

It starts with a very interesting premise - that I choose not to spoil. However, the actual gameplay didnt exactly hook me and I felt "baited" by the game tags. This isvery much a stealth game. The game gives you tools to avoid enemies, sneak past enemies and generally avoid combat as you die in one hit (at least thats how much i lasted before i uninstalled, one death after one hit). Unless you are into stealth games (which im not) and games where you are left to fend for yourself, this might interest you. I would refund if I didnt get it from humble bundle.

EDIT: I just finished the dlc and holy hell its some trippy ♥♥♥♥. Definitely worth the effort I put into this as a whole for the story. Regarding the dlc, its by far superior to the base game (imo) because your character talks so you have a personality to work with, the dlc as a whole delivers more concrete lore pieces and most importantly there is no annoying minigame between stages, only more lore which is good! Overall very happy I stuck with this even through the recurring thoughts of "should i stop playing now this is too repetitive".

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Yes, it gets repetitive lets get that out of the way.

But the subtle story that is delivered to you slowly over time, via dialogue, instant messaging, weird cargo you are asked to deliver to places, a world starts building around you. A world thats dying, that is depressing, unfair, but an absolute treat to experience.

If you are a fan of a good story and setting, power through the tediousness and you will not regret it.

the gameplay itself is good, very relaxing game if you are into this sort of thing, but the constant crashing and save corruption makes this a chore and honestly enraging

if i hadnt bought it from a 3rd party site i would request a refund even with my 12 hours just because its unplayable (12 hours because i had to restart a map 3 times because it crashed until i had enough, gameplay is slow so you rack up hours quick)

charming and short game, its worth spending the coffee money they ask for to support these new (i assume) devs and their future endeavours

Disclaimer: I spent 22 hours over several days completing this and while I enjoyed it, there are some details that not many people will find appealing.

List of the negative things that you should expect to encounter in this game:

  • lots of sameface NPCs (reused models, A LOT)
  • awkward dialogue animations (think ME:Andromeda but not as bad)
  • fairly weak level design
  • a crafting system that is poorly thoughtout, almost completely useless, and most importantly it serves as an excuse for the very unappealing armor and weapons you get to choose from (you ll understand what i mean when u need to get a new armor and weapon the first time)
  • as a result from the above, looting is almost entirely meaningless and it serves as a rude awakening near the ending of the game where you realise you have so many unspent resources that will remain unspent and you have been wasting your time sweeping every area for loot (which takes time because of the unskippable animation)
  • not all voice acting is bad (the protagonist, Roy, for example has great VA in my opinion that fits his character splendidly). However, a lot of random npcs and even major characters including a romance option have horrible horrible voice acting that leads one to believe the people that got recorded have never voice acted in their life beforehand
  • one obscure thing i noticed accidentally is the people in the street that you cannot interact with and are just there to provide immersion for the environment you are supposed to be in, have no animations in the slightest. literal mannequins. not all of the npcs, the devs did a good job at being conservative on who gets animated and who doesnt to make the setting believable. but if u notice like i did, it turns the experience a little sour and im sorry that i had to let u know but it bothered me a lot
  • the combat is kind of well executed, but quickly gets repetitive and easy (i was on Normal difficulty and every fight was childs play except 2-3 in the entire game, and u fight a LOT)
  • there is a "reputation" system implemented that turns out has no effect on the story at all, and only serves as a means to get some additional perks (like +crit chance or better merchant prices)
  • throughout your entire playthrough, there is one phrase echoing in your head the closer you get to the end: They run out of money

By this point you are propably wondering how the freakin hell i have "Yes" recommended this game. Surprisingly, if you manage to stomach all the above faults, there is a really great game here and the devs put as much of their soul into it as possible. They have created a believable post-apocalyptic universe full of intrigue, its own politics, factions, guilds and history. It is truly worth it to play this game just to experience the setting it is in. The story is well told, there are decisions to make that alter the story and how the NPCs deal with you, there are at least two romance options possible, and from the looks of it there are at least two pretty big branching paths depending on a single choice you make that changes the story heavily, and while I didnt try both possible paths, the ending my choice got was pretty satisfying with potential sequels or spinoffs.

Its worth mentioning that the world the game is set in is as "adult" or "mature" as it can be. The game doesnt hold the unpleasant facts from you and nor do the ingame characters (to give an example, one of the characters practically tells you she was sexually abused at a very young age by the people that adopted her).

I truly believe there is an enjoyable game here, as long as you know what you are getting into and pay the right price of admission (read: NOT the full price, at best 50%+ off)
