Fantastic metroidvania game, with excellent visuals, gameplay and a highly immersive setting that will make you love exploring every corner of this beautifully crafted world. Its also crazy cheap for the amount of fun you can get from this (over 30 hours of content that never feels like a chore). Obligatory purchase for fans of the genre, definitely recommended for anyone else.


I went into this game without any sort of high expectations. As far as I could tell, it was a cheap, good looking and apparently fun game. Probably worth about 3 or 6 hours of quality entertainment since I like the genre.

I was so wrong.

This is not your standard platforming exploration game: it has a distinct feeling that few games manage to achieve and that captivates you. A sense of wonder, discovery, that caters to your curiosity.

Entering a new room, finding a new zone is exciting. More than the new dangers and challenges you will encounter, the game's world tells its story through it.

Mind you, there's no actual "lore bible", so to say, and the game is quite similar to the Dark Souls games when it comes to storytelling: bits and pieces of lore from inscriptions, opinions from the charming NPCs you encounter along the way, helps you puzzle out the story by yourself.

There's also not much hand holding in the game. Even though its a metroidvania by design, and some parts of the game require special upgrades in order to be entered, it still manages to give you enough freedom to explore on your own before reaching such obstacles. Plus, enemies and bosses are hardly a pushover until very late in the game. You do have all the tools at your disposal in order to overcome them, but lower your guard and they will quickly best you in combat.

Having done the 100% completion challenge of the game, I can also tell it stays true to the genre's soul: the extra mile of the game is highly rewarding and is much more than a simple "collect all the trinkets". Its actually a progression of the story, in which you unravel its deepest and darkest secrets. Very immersive, very surprising and extremely satisfying.

Buy it, play it. Its one of those games that have such astounding quality and for such an affordable price its almost a steal. I can't even recommend waiting for a sale for this one. Its easily over 30 hours worth of amazing and rewarding fun and arguably an experience you won't forget anytime soon.
