Early Access Review
[NOTE: This was written during the game's initial Early Access release, prior to any major update]

I have to say, I do like this game. The developers have nailed the ol' medieval art aesthetic - the core gameplay loop of grinding herbs and brewing potions and selling to customers works amazingly and is engaging.

However, at this point I'd recommend waiting for it to brew a little longer, unless you want to purchase the game earlier to support the developers which I was happy to. As it is, the game doesn't have... enough to it, I suppose, to have kept me engaged longer than the hour I played of the Steam Game Festival demo, and the 1.6 hours I played of the main release.

Having taken a glance at their upcoming features and certain things missing in the game I'm confident that down the line a few major updates from now I'll happily fully recommend this game.

What's there currently is pretty damn fun - if you're a fan of Takeshi's Castle, It's a Knockout Gang Beasts and Human Fall Flat, you'll love this - but I do hope updates are somewhat frequent and add new games frequently.

You can pilot a mech in VR whose only purpose is to run around on robotic-spider-legs, jump on top of bigger mechs, and DRILL THEM TO PIECES.

It's probably one of the most thematic of the heists; prior to the release of the Big Bank heist, the biggest thing that you would rob was a shipping warehouse at a dock or a small art gallery. However, the Big Bank was a return to the more cinematic/cool heist settings of Payday 1, with a focus on robbing a BIG bank instead of just a branch.

The level design is quite good, the spawns don't feel too "JESUS CHRIST WHY AM I DROWNING IN DOZERS", the music stands apart from the rest with it's occasional operatic outbursts. The stealth method was also a bit more interesting than vanilla Payday 2's "lure guards outside, kill up to four, go control them all" way. It also implemented pre-planning... which, for the most part, turns into ♥♥♥♥ Drawing Simulator 2015, but Big Bank's implementation is still one of the best. Completely changes the way you escape, or the way you break into the vault itself.

Not only all that, but it remains one of the few heists with a very HIGH amount of loot you can possibly collect, barring infinite-duration-Cook-Off or White Xmas.

It essentially marked the beginning of a new era of "good" (if not amazing sometimes) heists for Payday 2. And after the somewhat lackluster launch(and following Armored Transport DLC), it was sorely needed.
