He should be called Man-Spider, as the majority of his physiology is human. Apart from that, very accurate.

Early Access Review
If you like sims and buttons and space flight history, you'll love this. Button heaven.

I'm one week into my Gemini endurance mission. The diaper is starting to itch, but no compromises.

This is a hardcore sim, and Jebediah wouldn't make it off the pad. Now if I ever (a) travel back in time to the 60's and (b) join the US space program then this sim has prepared me well.

Recommended.

Had nothing to do with fireplaces. Feel cheated, but card game seems to work ok.

Got it free with a graphics card and feel that it still owes me $10. Games for Windows online to save a game (not working), DX11 microstutters and just general disaster all round. Racing looked good in the still images, so maybe with a patch or three it'll work as intended.

Avoid.

Much better than metascore shows, a nice puzzle/platform with good aesthetics and interesting gameplay.

Not too bad overall, interesting beta.

Installed quickly from the beta key, about a 1.34GB installation. Clicked through the instructions, kinda ignored them but did catch the bit of fly / hover modes. Brought up the server list, about 30 of them, with about 10 active with players. Tried to join an empty one to just muck around, but the game waits on a 'awaiting other players' prompt (apparently you can do a Solo Flight from the instructions bit, but I missed it).

First populated game, on the West Coast US and early morning so had to join East Coast US with 6 other players at a ping of 120 ish (not great, considering I play a fair amount of CSGO at ~20 ping). Joined ok, ignored the garage stuff and hit 'fly'.

Sky. Pew Pew. Dead.

Ok, time to fiddle around a bit. Work my way through the weapons and didn't really get anywhere until Swarm or Homing were chosen, the shotgun / ballistics seems hard to get kills unless people stand still. Lots of turn fights just chasing the arrow. First game came bottom of table just chasing people around and crashing into stuff. Got team killed and destruction killed a lot.

Second game, figured out that standing in hover mode in the center of the area spamming homing or swarm meant I 'won the game' (not morally) so some weapons OP tweaks to be made I'm sure. The 'hidden static turret of death' strategy is probably just part of weapons balancing and new players just figuring things out.

Graphics on my i5/2500k/8GB/AMD 2GB6970 look great with nothing changed in options other than the resolution (which defaulted to about 640x480 pixels, what's with that? Plus the resolution picker was awkward to use as a twitchy drop-down). Smooth frames, nice to swoop around close to stuff. I wanted to play cockpit view, but it defaults to 3rd person (F2 to toggle) and to be honest makes you more competitive as the FOV is greater. As a PvP title I'm guessing people will just use the outside view a lot.

Overall, a little like one of my fav old games like 'Shattered Horizon'. That was a great game, with nice graphics and weapons that died due to lack of MP player base. The trick with this title will be how they balance players, on what they add to reduce griefing and how to encourage a community base. In today's market it might just have to be a F2P offering, which will make balance pretty hard. As an 'arena' PvP title I'm not so sure it'll do ok, but will get some interest due to nostalgia over Descent plus nice graphics. If brutal for the new player then the game will die imho. Getting to a critcal mass of a player base (which would allow ranks, balancing, teamwork etc) should be the goal.

Anyway, had a fun hour - looks promising and will play agan next update.

I enjoyed it, very chill. Colours, music, not much to do. If that sounds ok then worth a shot otherwise might not be your thing. Don't watch too many videos of gameplay, as that misses the whole exploration point.

Plus has frogs.
