Looking forward to Ark 2.

Game launched without a queue system, and a server that couldn't handle the demand. Devs told players to stay on the limited Demo/Tutorial island (Haven) until they fix the issues and implement a Queue system. Issues still aren't fixed. 01/29/22 Henrik states "we will never be wiping the game, and all progress made by players is permanent". Four days later they wiped 24 hours of progress across all servers. 02/03/22 Robmo "All progress will revert to 24 hours earlier.". (Assuming you were able to actually play the game at all to make any progress.). This game is plagued with network problems and balancing issues (they keep nerfing/buffing things.) You will likely be stuck on the tutorial island. The devs have not demonstrated a high level of critical thinking when it comes to problem solving. They simply cannot see the forest for the trees. If you value your time, look elsewhere.

Update 07/12/21: Still Broken.

Broken. Wouldn't recommend right now even if it were free. Servers have had major issues from the start of the season. If you're lucky enough to log in, it's only a matter of time until you're disconnected. The auction house is broken in every way as well. You can list & sell items, but you will not get the currency for selling them. You will also randomly lose all items in your stash or inventory. Trying to drop an item on the ground? Enjoy the 5 minute lock-up that often results in needing to reload the game and try your luck at the login screen again.

They brag about the net code yet it feels terrible. They won't let us play CS:GO because they know very few would choose this poor experience over CS:GO. Hopefully Valve will listen to the community and find a better solution before we've all moved on to something else permanently.
