The proverbial Starship Troopers game we forgot we wanted since the 90's.

The Good:
-General combat.
-DLC. The weapons you can pick up in DLC are fun and can help make things a little easier (boots for example, a Sickle to start with) but they're complimentary to the weapons and stratagems in the game. Of course there are weapon oddities that skewer the meta. I know the AR-20L is the best main weapon but I prefer my LAS-5 Scythe for solo jobs.
-The difficulty spike. It's pretty fair in comparison to a lot of other games out there until you hit Rank 10 and above. Then it throws bigger curve balls.
-Co-op Danger: Teams have to work together well in order for the game to not screw you. I like that it is easy for you and your squad to kill each other and with mob overload how fast they can table you if you get careless.
- The gear levelling system/research mechanic. It lets you customise your gear well.

The Bad:
-The grind/replayability factor. After beating bosses and helping win a few of the galactic wars the game lost its charm as the grind set in.

The Mixed:
-Characterisation. The general theme of the game is excellent however it all seems remarkably flat and generally hit and miss. Yeah, I'd have liked the option to know more on a few ocassions.
- The Galactic Wars. A great idea that is hard to capitalise on. What's that, done for the night on that world with that stratagem you really want? Oh, that world's gone an hour later if you warp away or what have you. And it's harder to gear up for people when the push is on for an enemy's capital. Add to that the grind factor and it kind of kills the game.
- The camera angle. I see a lot of complaints about this and while it's not perfect I don't mind it too much, would it have worked better with LT/RT camera angle changes like in XCOM? Maybe. Who knows?

All in all, I loved Helldivers and got a lot of playtime out of the game and can't help but recommend it for co-op shenanigans. Shredder Missiles are for life, not just for Super Christmas.
Hey you! You read all this?!
Have lovely day! :kamina:
