I always wanted an exploration game like this. very creative graphics. Gameplay is a little off, with the breathin system. I love the confusion and wierdness. Very inspired by the art the author of Blame!, a comic taking place in a simmilar maze-like cityscape.

Literally the best game of all time. It has been voted so a few times actually.
All its parts come together and make it that one rare game that gets ALL the parts right.

Okay, okay I may be a little overhyping this game.

Note: Get DSFix and PVPWatchdog mods for best experience. CONTROLLER MANDATORY!!!

Graphics: Good, but not amazing. Its an older game, but the aesthetics hold up and still convey a sense of awe, even years after it release. The design choices are frankly, the best I have ever seen. It has a sense of weird/creepy/dark/hopeless and yet still has bursts of color and beauty. The armor, enemies, and weapons are cool, interesting, and a little funny and weird at times. If all elese fails? Looks at the mods.

Gameplay: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. This is probably Dark Soul's best part. The combat system has NEVER been beaten by any other game, not even it's predecessors or sequels. The dodgeing, rolling, aiming, blocking, parrying, backstabbing, and slashing all come together to make a wonderfully complex combat system that ACTUALLY REQUIRES SKILL AND LEARNING TO MASTER. People say Dark Soul's is hard. Thats not true. It actually becomes dissapointingly easy after a hundred hours, due to the fact that every death and faillure is due to a lack of skill and experience, not bullcrap difficulty. Part of the DS experience is learning how to deal with enemies that are just as capable as you. The difference between you and the enemy is that YOU CAN LEARN. The boss battles are amazing. If you have ever played Ocarina of Time, or a similar 3d LOZelda game, you can see the parallels. Except in dark souls, you can be scared of the boss. Scared to death. (Looking at you Toothy Vagina Dragon). The boss battles pit you against (usually) massive monsters that can kill you in just a few hits, which can be discouraging at first. If you learn the attack patterns, and avoid getting hit, you will triumph. The high after killing Dark Souls Boss is only comparable to hard drugs. And it's just as addicting.

EDIT: Since this review, I have found that the recent Dark Souls 3 has smoother controls, but has way too easy healing and low stamina consumption on rolling. While this is somwhat needed to balance towards faster bosses, I think it went a little too far and has made pvp suffer.

Multiplayer: Very clunky. Get mods to see how many people you are connected to and play more efficiently, because the multiplayer is pretty hard to use and has a low population. However: it is SO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ FUN ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Facing other, competent people in the most amazing and skill based combat system ever made is exhilarating. The lore-based implications are pretty good too. Clunkiness actually made it better, who knew?

Story: At first it seems like a traditional light/dark rpg storyline. But then evolves into something much more. Read up on
lore you may have missed while playing!

Spoilers ahead!

The story of "you" is simple: You are a zombie who cannot die. There is a prophecy that an undead will make a pilgrimage from the Undead Asylum (where you are imprisoned, for being a zombie) and ring the Bell(s?) of Awakening. You eventually, after defeating Gods, Monsters, and demigods, have to choose to either rekindle the Age of Fire, bringing another "golden age", or begin the Age of Dark, which is the Age of Humanity (The Dark Souls), and become the Lord of the Dark Soul. Neither ending is good or bad, really.

The 'World Story" is mush more deep. it is told almost entirely by item descriptions or subtle visual cues. Very hard to grasp it when you see it. Read up on boss lore before you fight them so you get the full effect pf the implications of the fight. You can feel bad for ALMOST EVERY DAMN MONSTER YOU SEE. The NPCS actually feel motivated by thier own intentions and are more than lore spewing idiots. None are especially evil, just hopeless. They really set the mood. in recoment looking up where to go to get to their story events. TALK TO NPCS ALOT AND WHENEVER YOU DO SOMETHING.

Its all really reallly sad.

Overall: 10/10 and Im not even exagerating.

KSP made me learn things about orbital mechanics that I would never have learned at school. Its just so rewarding going to another world with your own math, designs andpiloting skill. Mods and frequent updates by amazing devs make it an ENDLESS experience.

I first got Skyrim for the 360. And loved it. Played thousands of hours. Now I havce it for PC. Stopped playing mostly, but MODS have made this a whole new experience. Its Bethesda, its buggy, but it is in all honesty one of the best Elder Scrolls games ever made.
