Because the id Tech engine is so super-optimized. I only had any loss of performance when I cranked everything up to Ultra Nightmare with raytracing on a RTX 3080 10GB. Dropped the Texture Pool Size from Ultra Nightmare to Ultra and that fixed it.
According to id Software, a 3090 is supposed to be the recommended GPU for full Ultra Nightmare with raytracing.

@Crashed Also I played Doom Eternal at launch and didn't notice any performance issues

Re: Denuvo, because the rightwing decided to chime in on your thread
I've seen frame drops on games that happened to be Denuvo, but it is way too often scapegoated. Two games with Denuvo, specifically Doom Eternal and Final Fantasy XV, start dropping frames on my PC only when they eat up all the video RAM, which Denuvo has absolutely zero influence on.
