Usually when a game gets released during Q1 of the new year, there aren't high hopes for it succeeding due to the intense Q4 of the previous year with massive triple A titles coming out the cut and wanting all the attention. However, for Pony Island, this caught my attention after watching the Yogscast do a short episode about it. I was intrigued that some guy decided to make a game titled Pony Island.

But here's where I went wrong...

Pony Island isn't some happy go-lucky game where you control some person riding a pony and frolicking in the wilderness. It's a game where you know that the decisions you make impact you as the player and the character you are mimicking. When it comes to indie games, they love using dark themes because it provides that depth most games don't have. In Pony Island, there is no such thing as a linear story. There is reason behind each statement and it's a psychological thriller. Yes, clicking and shooting lazers is all fun and games, but when you are trying to secure your own freedom from the grasp of a devil like creature (Satan, in this case), you will do anything in your power to be freed from the oppression.

This is why I'm giving this game a definite 9.5/10. The story, art style, and music mesh really well together and gave me a positive experience despite the fact that some parts are really repetitive. I hope you guys enjoy the game as much as I did because man, this is one of the best games I've played so far that came out this year.

This game is really irrelevant when it comes to reviewing content that barely has any content. BUT, there is one good thing about AdVenture Capitalist that keeps players addicted to a small game such as this.

For example, the money collected gives you Angel Investors once you restart your progress and helps you buy more stocks so that you can collect money faster. There is also an option to buy a lot of upgrades to make your money well spent.

But that is it. If you are trying to complete the game via achievements, there are only 10 or so that are not too hard to complete. All in all, the game is a fun, short-lived, game that won't be seeing any awards...ever. It's for the person that wants to be free from daily stresses for 30 minutes a day.

**The replayability aspect of the game is not solely based on completing it and then restarting it from scratch. It's based off of the amount of times you can play the game without being bored of it. IE: Going back into the game to buy more stocks, upgrades, and so on.

I solely would recommend this game because it is, without a doubt, ridiculously fun. But while some aspects of the game hinder the "fun" it's not so bad.

Early Access -arvostelu
Previously, I wrote a review on Unturned with high hopes for this game. And now, I will update my review with 2 hours of playtime from v3.0 to current patch.

So, what did I think of it:
Quite simple really. The game is fleshed out to a point where I would honestly buy it if it wasn't for free. However, IT IS. SO THANK THE DEVELOPER FOR THAT.:D

Is the current patch sustainable:

When I talk about sustainable, I talk about if the game will not get boring after an hour or 2 of playing it in singleplayer or multiplayer. I believe both sides to the game are important so I will split them up into two sections.

SINGLEPLAYER:
I do not believe the singleplayer is sustainable because the resources vary way too much depending on the map you play on (Only PEI and Arena). Well, you may be asking "What do you mean the resources vary? It's a survival game so therefore the resources have to be limited. Right?" Yes, I do mean these things but there isn't consistency when seeking for food, water, materials, etc. For example, in Arena, I played a map where I was spawned in the middle of a godforsaken field where my goal was to survive. Do I hate that it set it up this way? No. I don't. In fact, I loved the idea. However, after attempting to find resources in the 45 minutes that I invested into it, I found NONE. Like what? Why would you make my goal to survive when half of the map has "invisible walls" and I can't achieve anything. I literally found nothing and the tools I started off with were useless to begin with. I don't know if there would be things that changed my experience but I have to say that this game in SP is somewhat worse than to what I expected during patches 2.4-2.8.

I give this section a 64/100.

MULTIPLAYER:
So this is gonna be a doozy. Multiplayer only works locally as of what I know. If this has changed, then my opinion on this is irrelevant. However, I believe that multiplayer is only as successful as the people who play it. So if you do well with a group of talented players, then you're in luck! But if you are stuck with a group of beginners that have no idea what they're doing, then bad things happen. I really don't know too much about the multiplayer but I will give it some slack because I have heard from many people that they enjoyed playing with others.

Due to this, I will give this section a 72/100.

CONCLUSION:
What can make this game better? There are few things that can be changed. For example, resource distribution and inventory management. While I support the idea of you starting with 4 inventory spaces, I sometimes feel that it's not enough to get going on your journey to survive. Maybe 5-6 spaces would be enough to sustain your character for a period of time. I believe it will make the game a bit more ridiculous as to what you have to sacrifice in the long run. I honestly didn't have too much fun with this update and will wait for future updates to come. I am a huge fan of this game and am really thankful for Nelson Sexton to provide weekly updates. I hope that when the beta stage ends, this game will be a lot more sound than it is now.

I have mixed feelings when it comes to a Portal DLC per se. While this game has its moments, it has many other bad ones as well. First off, when I loaded the game, the default setting was 640x480....WHY? Secondly, there is no option for my PC which is 1366x780. Also, even after changing the mouse sensitivity multiple times, it takes forever for you to find the proper sensitivity. Thirdly, the graphics in the game are very mediocre. The character model feels like a PS2 game which shouldn't be the case. Well, that is the end of the negatives.

For the positives...

This game has an interesting concept about using a time machine in order to use a recording proceed through the levels. Although I only played a few levels, this game has so much potential. The level design is interesting at best and is innovative from the original Portal 2 levels. I thoroughly enjoy this game because it is similar to QUBE. Lastly, each level shows you a tutorial on how to accomplish a specific task. Though it may be difficult to understand, you can understand the main gist of the levels.

Therefore, I give this game an 7.8/10.
