I'm gonna be real. I bought this on sale a couple weeks ago and I have not noticed any impactful changes coming from this dlc.

- Your characters will reminisce about their personal history with those closest to them, be it a romantic getaway or the painful humiliation that is the seed of a well-nurtured murder plot.

The only event I really noticed from this feature is when a friend writes a poem for you based on a battle you commanded and won. Otherwise, I'm just not seeing any notable events triggering.

-Childhood is a place where happy memories rest… or not. Experience a character’s youth in full, from brutish bullies to wistful teenage love.

I noticed zero changes during childhood phases. You just get crushes, friends, and bullies as much as you would before the dlc. Now, there's an opinion modifier for the next decade or so after you reach adulthood to makes those relationships more.. important?

-Past deeds will not be forgotten. Be watchful of the wrath of rival noble houses, plotting to right a perceived wrong, even after many generations.

House rivalry is really just a nonsense mechanic. You'll randomly get an event pertaining to a member of your family being slighted by another house. The only indication that you are in a feud afterwards is if you look at your house/dynasty screen to find a small modifier that lets you know. The ai is totally incompetent in dealing with house rivalries. There is also an issue I encountered where you can win the rivalry, but the rival house still retains their rivalry even if they have the pathetic house modifier from losing so badly. Either they are such bad losers or it's a bug.

This DLC highlights the design problems of the memory log mechanic. The pool of memorable events which are capable of being recorded do not handle enough details to make memories truly memorable. For instance, the memory log will record that you entered into a war, fought in a battle, and whether you win/lose a war, but it doesn't include any details like how long you were in command of an army for, it doesn't record raids (which should be important memories for Norsemen, imo), nor casualties taken or afflicted during conflicts. It doesn't record mental breaks, illnesses, or being wounded in duels/battle. It doesn't even record a 2 year siege as being memorable. Imagine besieging a castle for two years and the only memory you have is that you started and ended a war with two years of blank in between.

Not to mention that the "vanishing" of memories after someone dies is totally arbitrary. Your best friend dies in battle? Can't access his memories any more because he wasn't a top tier lord. You'd think that you would remember your best friend's public memories. But the tiny kingdom with one duchy, oh boy, when that king dies you will personally remember that he lost a bunch of wars before he died.

I got killed by a lynx that I trapped because I was trying to bonk him on the head with a club. It's a cruel world out there.

Probably the most rewarding combat system I've ever played in a game. The complexity of the combat allows for very immersive fights when it's mechanics are fully comprehended and practiced. It's not beginner friendly and it will take time before you grasp the fundamentals. I recommend playing in arena mode to practice after trying the story mode at least once.

It's not perfect, but it is a labor of love. I stopped playing it on steam though.

Got bored on my first playthrough. It's partly inspired by Facade so I came in thinking it would be somewhat as elaborate. But the segues the partner uses makes it seem like what you type is nearly useless. Besides that it's all written dialogue and without the need for voice actors you could have gotten pretty elaborate with the kinds of responses allowed. It only recognizes when you "stick to the script" as the description says. It might have been a more compelling game if you also used a.i. to generate responses for the "off-script" responses.

I really like this game. Refer to the manual and the Ageod forums if you have questions about mechanics and stick to it. There are some inconsistencies with ui tooltips and actual gameplay but once you understand how to play it's a lot of fun. If you've played any other Ageod games then you'll pick it up quick.

I'm not going to recommend this game even though I do have fun with it. The melee is sluggish and just an overall bad experience. The community can't decide whether to actually play the game or roleplay themselves into situations where they contribute nothing to the objectives and waste tickets. Clans vie for power over each other by spamming the ONLY semi-full server with their unoriginal and predatory messages. People hog the limited class slots so if you have an ssd you have an advantage in getting what you want.

I'm a full believer that voice chat killed this game in it's infancy. There isn't a single round without summerfags spamming le XD funny meme sounds or music through their mics.
