The game has a fun and simple concept that can be enjoyable. Even the lack of content or PVE options are understandable, if you set your expectations to that of a mobile game.
The real problem with Sea of Thieves is the stability.
For a game whose servers crash almost daily there are no in game ways of addressing them making players lose hours of progress every time anything goes wrong. And with dozens of very common in game bugs that meet that criteria, you have a horrific mixture. In my two sessions this week I had servers shut down, my ship be deleted, and my keys unbound.
Its hard to recommend this game to anyone who lacks the patience of a saint and all the time in the world

Part 1 is awful and nearly unplayable, Part 2 is beautiful and seems fun... unless get an unfixiable crash that not even uninstalling can fix like I'm having right now. I could say it like this, would rather pay $20 for a night out with a dumb but pretty & nice person than $30 for a nice & pretty person alongside an ugly a-hole.

Requires a ton of additional expensive content to seem complete, cant rebind most keys, main menu advertising and it just never quite felt fulfilling like husk that was Sim City.
I accept that this game provides more content and lets you micro much more than any other city builder but for me it feels like a two steps forward one step back at best.

Still the best most complete Civ game in the lineup. Endlessly replayable and 3 times more so with friends.
While it may lack some features that are offered in 6 and 4 what it does offer is the most complete experience, It feels more like a renaissance man than a jack of all trades master of none.

At the end of the day its a farcry game which isn't always a bad thing and I will give it plaudits for ironing out some annoying quirks & grind while delivering better graphics and world design than previous tittles.
However this game has some major downsides that far outweigh the positives in my opinion.
Most notably is the forced story progression, its an open world where you feel punished for exploring.
Optional micro transactions, very limited character customization, and more glitches than previous titles made adjusting painful. Once you have accepted the flaws in gameplay you have the story which feels like an immense waste of potential with the endings in particular leaving an incredible bad taste in your mouth. I would not recommend people buy this or even sink the time into playing it.

It is a nostlagia trip ported over perfectly. Except for the one or two areas where the game auto adjusts the camera angle the game seems to play even better on mouse and keyboard.

Server browser is a nightmare, with all the dlc's it requires its own dedicated drive, and official servers suck but once you find a community server you find one of the best games of all time.
At its core Ark is the best survival game out there right now but they went above and beyond with extra content like the boss fights to access endgame content and a story that deserves more attention than it gets.
